Evansville Library Plans To Invite Anarchist Punk Rocker Laura Jane Grace

An Evansville library plan to have punk rocker Laura Jane Grace come and discuss her book “Tyranny: confessions of a punk rockers most infamous anarchist sellout”

I was appalled and disgusted in what I read online about her.  Her online poster states “Midwest Takeover.”  In the article, it states devouring mothers bought to rot Nihilism.  Although I have several different college degrees I had never heard this word Nihilism before.  It is defined as one who rejects all moral and religion as well as believing there is no purpose for life. Extreme skepticism.  I am not alone in my thinking that this person is not a healthy person to be invited here.  Her album is produced by Bloodshot records.

Something is terribly wrong here when a group of extreme liberals decides that public taxpayer and citizen should allow this in a local library. She has also performed in Vancouver, Montreal, and Toronto.  This plan is much bigger than just locally. Wow, what a thing to promote when teens are already battling depression, suicide, and confusion.  This agenda goes against everything that is good in this area.

Here is my opinion straight and simple. The Evansville Library with the millions of tax dollars they use needs to close their doors and not reopen until the ones responsible for promoting LGBTQ+ drag queen story hour and rainbow story are removed.

As far as I am concerned heads need to roll in the line of firing for this destructive agenda.  And in case you are wondering what the plus sign is it does include pedophiles as well.  I am here as a citizen to promote and protect our children and teens as well as good values and morals for our area not to destroy them. Those that are not may move to Vancouver, but not bring this agenda here.

  2. Good to see yet another non-issue nettling Finn. She’s after the library this time. Wants the people resposnsible for authors like Laura Jane Grace coming fired from our libraries, ‘ heads need to roll’ as she delicately puts it. I’m sure she doesn’t want Grace’s book there either. People like Finn are what we must watch out for. Budding bookburners, malcontents, busybodies always trying to set the agenda for others to ratify their own personal prejudices.

    • Yep, that’s what blew my mind. I expect ignorant pushback on these things, but how can you have “several degrees” and have never heard of Nihilism? What the heck are her degrees in? Was she asleep?

  6. Oh Yes, This issue… Such an issue. Gah, If only you have said what library it was happening at, and at what time. Maybe the date as well so that I know if I have to take a remote day from work or I could just make it a day trip. Possibly more info about registration or if we need tickets. Will she be taking audience questions or will there be a moderator where we have to submit them before the session? All very important things that have all been left unsaid.

    Hopefully this information will be released to the public soon so that people can begin plans for the city to welcome her with understanding and acceptance from what is otherwise a cold and cruel world.

  7. An author of a controversial book is going to be allowed to discuss that book at the local library. This… is kind of one of the purposes of libraries. You might, perhaps, want to re-examine your outrage unless you’ve actually read the book in question, or at the very least done more than a cursory Google search to learn the dictionary definition of nihilism. (Seriously? Several college degrees, and you have never heard the word nihilism? Perhaps you ought to be spending more time in libraries…)
    I’d also like to add, since you put this out there… the + in LGBTQ+ represents “questioning, intersex, and asexual”. It is only the bigoted, homophobic, belligerent far-right who equate any non-straight lifestyle with pedophilia, regardless of the fact that statistically, pedophilia exists in higher numbers among the straight community than the LGBTQ+.

  8. I’m curious what her “several degrees” are in. Clearly, they didn’t require being able to use proper spelling or grammar, let alone any type of open minded thought. No, the “+” doesn’t stand for pedophiles. (And other commenter, she’s transgender, not a transvestite). And oh my! A record label named Bloodshot?! Surely, she must be from the devil! How about this? Just don’t go to the event. Problem solved.

    So your “agenda” includes violence but that’s ok because it’s on your terms? I’m curious as to what you “several college degrees” are. I bet you have a Master’s in Bigotry.

    Did you get these degrees online? While you were there, did you do a simple Google search to actually see what the “+” represents? I’m going to say you didn’t. (HINT: It has nothing to do with pedophiles.)

    How embarrassing for you, and any of the bigot sheeple who believed your uneducated rant.

  12. I encourage everyone to go hear Laura speak. She is, like most of us, human and has been through some amazing and some painful things. Ignore imbeciles who don’t have the intelligence of compassion to see the value this person brings to our society.

  14. The person who wrote this needs to go back to college and learn how to properly research someone before they type up a diatribe attempting to tear them down. Laura Jane Grace is a transgender artist who is the front woman for not only Laura Jane Grace and The Devouring Mother’s but has been the front woman for Against Me! for years. She happens to also be transgender. Her book is called Tranny not Tyranny. Also our area needs people with different backgrounds to come this way to educate the masses. There is no one way to be a human and it makes us all better people to learn about other people’s experiences. Also if you are uncomfortable with her or even the drag queen story time then I suggest you not come to them. But you just might learn something if you would just open your minds just a fraction.

  15. At least Laura can actually write. What an uninformed, and bigoted mess this letter was. Maybe the author should spend some more time in libraries, because obviously the degrees they have are not in writing.

    Just going to go ahead and post some corrections and constructive criticisms just for reference.

    1) Title is “Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout”

    2) I can’t say for certain what the article they were referring to actually said, but Laura has side project called “Laura Jane Grace and the Devouring Mothers” whose album is titled “Bought to Rot”. Also, I don’t know what nihilism has to do with said article, but it’s a pretty common word, like high school english class type of common.

    3) She has played, quite literally, worldwide. I’m not entirely sure what the point of naming those Canadian city’s was.

    4) Actually, talking about the topics of her book can be incredibly helpful for teens struggling with mental health, especially if the mental health issues stem from being transgender or LGBTQ+.

    5) Laura is not a drag queen, she’s transgender.

    6) The “+” in LGBTQ+ does NOT INCLUDE PEDOPHILES. It does however include those who are non-binary, intersex, asexual etc.

    Also, I’d just like to say, I’ve seen Laura play, in Ottawa and Montreal. Both shows were bangers. I’ve also read her book, it was a great read and I absolutely recommend it.
