“LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB”

“Right Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have two commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.
Joe Biden and Ronald Reagan’s comments are mostly about issues of national interest.  The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give Mr. Biden and Mr. Reagan exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “Left Jab” is a liberal view and the “Right Jab is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments of the two gentlemen is free to do so.

  1. IRS ignored documents showing that billionaire Trump supporter avoided millions in taxes on Cape Cod estate used for Trump fundraiser

Sell your home at a loss and Congress says tough luck. Whether you overpaid or the market collapsed, it’s a personal loss and you get no tax deduction. The loss is 100 percent yours and yours alone.

In this fourth installment of The Koch Papers, we’ll look at Bill Koch’s purchase of an estate to expand his Cape Cod vacation home and a deduction he then took on his personal income tax return. The case raises questions about the diligence of federal tax law enforcement and whether under the Trump administration the IRS shows favoritism to Trump supporters.

William Ingraham Koch wanted to expand his Cape Cod vacation home compound, a lavish estate where he hosted a 2016 campaign fundraiser for Donald Trump. The Florida billionaire, whose primary Palm Beach home is six blocks from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, wanted the neighboring 26-acre estate so much that, The Koch Papers show, he paid more than twice the $29.5 million appraised value of the property.

The price Bill Koch paid, according to the documents? $63,744,920.

The total amount he deducted? $42,637,729.

The 2013 purchase added 26 acres to Koch’s existing property, including a peninsula that gave him increased privacy. The purchased property boasted a magnificent 7,000 square foot home and more than a thousand feet of waterfront with a beach house, tennis courts and extensive gardens.

Sotheby’s, in a brochure, called the property Koch bought “One of the most significant parcels on the entire East Coast.” The Cape Cod real estate deal was widely reported in publications covering real estate and Boston area business.

How did Koch deduct two-thirds of the value of a personal residence? The key was buying the property not in his own name, but through a Limited Liability Company, or LLC. By liquidating the LLC after the purchase, he wrote the price premium off as a loss.

On his tax return, Koch deducted all of the $34.6 million premium he paid for the neighboring property. Then he deducted another $8 million, The Koch Papers show. He did this even though Congress has enacted laws that explicitly deny losses on personal residences.

The IRS was told of this deduction in May 2018, in a whistleblower complaint filed by Charles Middleton, the former chief tax executive for Koch’s company, Oxbow Carbon LLC. Middleton and his office prepared both the company’s and Koch’s personal tax returns.

Middleton called the losses taken on the Cape Cod vacation home “tax fraud.”

Koch’s spokesman, in a statement, said, “It is not Mr. Koch’s personal residence. It was an investment property.”

That position shows how Congress needs to hold hearings to clarify the rules barring losses on personal residences. By using S corporations to acquire homes where one lives, including neighboring properties whose purchase would expand an existing vacation home compound, taxpayers can easily get around the rules prohibiting losses on personal residences.

News reports on the sale at the time said the Mellon property had been listed at $29 million and sold for $19.5 million, attributing the pricing information to the real estate arm of the Sotheby’s auction house.

In comments to real estate journalists at the time, Koch described the Mellon property as a personal residence. “I want to make it a family compound,” he told The Wall Street Journal, which noted he has six children.

The Boston Herald reported that Koch acquired the Mellon estate and another neighboring property owned by a DuPont to expand his vacation home complex. The Cape Cod Times quoted Koch as saying,“This is a chance of several lifetimes.”

Middleton, the whistleblower, told the IRS that the sale price, tax deduction and other amounts in his complaint were “all set forth in spreadsheets and PowerPoint documents prepared by Oxbow’s tax department.”

There is no indication the IRS followed up on Middleton’s 2018 complaint. A prior complaint filed during the waning days of the Obama Administration about other Koch tax avoidance strategies sparked an IRS criminal inquiry, the Koch Papers show, but the IRS appears to have abandoned the investigation shortly after Trump took office in 2017

AMAZING POLL: Young People Begin Turning Against Militant Gay Agenda

A new poll is shocking the far left because it shows that young people are beginning to turn against the radical gay agenda.

For decades it has been assumed that young people are locked in with the far-left agenda and the kids are one of liberalisms most important constituencies. But this new poll finds that a backlash is forming against the militant gay agenda and the results has liberals scrambling for explanations.

“Young people are growing less tolerant of LGBTQ individuals, a jarring turn for a generation traditionally considered embracing and open,” a shocked USA Today reports of a new survey….

For instance, we are finally seeing natural-born female athletes rising up against schools and sports leagues forcing powerful men pretending to be women into women’s sports to compete with (and always beat) the girls.

The tranny agenda is also being felt in other ways. An untold number of girls across the country are now being forced to see naked men pretending to be women in locker rooms and bathrooms everywhere. This is another area that is experiencing push back against the gay agenda.

But the militant gay lobby continues to force these situations down everyone’s throat. And that militancy is beginning to wear on good people everywhere.

  2. Rachel Maddow Busts 💩Trump💩 After He Blames Iran For Attack That Taliban Already Took Credit For

Rachel Maddow busted the Trump administration for quickly blaming Iran – without evidence – for an attack in the Middle East that the Taliban already claimed credit for.

According to the MSNBC host, among the list of attacks for which the Trump administration is blaming Iran in their buildup to war is a bombing that took place in Afghanistan, which injured four U.S. service members.

“That’s an attack for which someone else entirely, the Taliban, claimed responsibility. The Trump administration is nevertheless claiming it was Iran”

    Maddow said:

“This latest announcement about 1,000 U.S. troops heading over, this follows a series of increasingly dramatic accusations from the Trump administration that seem to be intended to put us on a war footing with Iran. We talked on the show late last week about the list of violent acts the Trump administration is now attributing to Iran, including at least one attack in Afghanistan in which four U.S. service members were wounded. That’s an attack for which someone else entirely, the Taliban, claimed responsibility. The Trump administration is nevertheless saying no, we think that was Iran, too. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was questioned sharply about that this weekend by Margaret Brennan on CBS News. She pointed out to him that the Taliban claimed responsibility for that attack and there’s been no evidence put forward by the administration to back up their new assertion that secretly it was really Iran who did that and that’s one of the reasons we need to be on this newly aggressive footing toward Iran. Secretary of State insisted that he can’t share the evidence, he can’t share any intelligence that gives him such confidence that Iran is actually really responsible for that attack. Not to mention all of the other attacks they put on this list to bolster the public perception that we are on some sort of escalating march to war with Iran that they are starting”

Iran is a bigger threat because of Trump

With each passing week, it becomes more clear that the president and his hawk-filled foreign policy team are eager to start a war with Iran. While the administration is trying to craft a narrative that Iran is responsible for the escalation we have seen in recent weeks, the rising tensions were largely triggered by the Trump administration – particularly after they pulled the U.S. out of the landmark Iran nuclear agreement.

As PoliticusUSA’s Jason Easley noted last month, even American allies recognize that the aggression has stemmed from the White House, not the Iranians.

As a result, Iran has shown more aggression, the region has become increasingly unstable and the United States is on the verge of another war in the Middle East

Exclusive: Mexican Officials Confirm U.S. Warned Them About Suspected ISIS Terrorists Headed to Border

Mexican authorities are on high alert regarding three ISIS-linked terror suspects who are believed to be making their way from Central America to Mexico and potentially the U.S. border. Authorities were warned the suspects could try to enter Mexico within a large migrant group or with the help of human smugglers.

Breitbart News exclusively confirmed that Mexican Federal Police are on alert, preparing to encounter or arrest Ahamed Ghanim Mohamed Al Juburi from Iraq, and Ibrahim Mohamed and Mohamed Eissa from Egypt. The three men are believed to have entered through Panama in May, crossed through Costa Rica on June 9, and could be headed to Mexico, a leaked internal security memo revealed. The documents make reference to BITMAP, the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations’ Biometric Identification Transnational Migration Alert Program, a collection of databases on “special interest aliens, violent criminals, fugitives and confirmed or suspected terrorists encountered within illicit pathways.”

A document obtained by Breitbart News from Mexico’s Federal Police revealed that on June 21, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security warned Mexico about the suspects and asked for cooperation in attempting to stop them if they were encountered in or approaching Mexico. The document asked for cooperation from all Mexican agencies.

  3. Trump’s Plan To Remove Millions Of Immigrants Next Week Was A Lie

Trump announced that ICE would be removing millions of immigrants and deporting them next week, but ICE doesn’t have the resources or capacity to carry out such an operation.

Trump’s claim that millions will be was a lie

ICE Doesn’t Have The Resources Or Capacity To Remove Millions of Immigrants

NBC News’s Julia Ainsley reported, “It is important to realize that when you arrest immigrants in the interior of the country which is what I.C.E. Does when they do these removal deportations, they have to hold those immigrants somewhere before they deport them. That is an I.C.E. Detention space. This is as they work with their home countries to get documents in place and they have to stay in detention space. Right now that detention space that is run by I.C.E. And sometimes contracted out to other places is at or near people I’ve spoken to in the last week at I.C.E. Say they have actually had to cut down on enforcement plans just like the one the president is talking about because they’re out of if you look at the numbers, the number of deportations from immigrants living in the interior of the country, not recently crossing the border, has gone down because they don’t have the space.”

Trump has learned nothing from 2018 and is running on immigration cruelty in 2020. Deport them all has replaced Trump’s bogus promise to build the wall. The quick deportation of millions of immigrants isn’t going to happen. Trump’s tweet was a lie born of out the desperation of a failed president who is creating imaginary achievements for himself to boost his reelection campaign.

The mentality behind the bogus tweets is unAmerican, but the actual policy itself, won’t be happening on the scale that Trump promised.

    • When liberal Democrats are in charge:

CHICAGO — It’s known here as The Exodus.

People are leaving Illinois in droves. Republicans blame the state’s high taxes and its unfunded pension liability, which tops $130 billion. Democrats believe it’s the state’s lack of investment in education and infrastructure.

One thing is certain: Illinois’ population has declined by 157,000 residents over the past five years, making it one of only two states — West Virginia is the other — to lose people over the past decade.

Illinois’ predicament is a perfect storm of declining manufacturing, stagnant immigration, declining birth rates, young people leaving for college and never coming back, long-standing economic discrimination against black residents, high housing costs, and the continued draw of residents to the Sun Belt…..

Are you a young person thinking of moving to a happening city? Chances are New York is not even on your list of potential hotspots, and if you are already living there, then you are looking for a way out. The last dividends of 20 years of leadership under Rudy Giuliani and Michael Bloomberg are being squandered by well intentioned but increasingly radical policies.

Dragging business practices, skyrocketing taxes, telecommuting, and loss of special status is a toxic mix for New York. Among young people, New York is becoming passe. During recent years, both the city and the state of New York have lost residents, as waves of educated and high earning millennials have fled. In fact, more than 46 percent of New Yorkers of all ages moving out of the state are in the bracket earning above $150,000.

The Empire State budget is in near freefall, in no small part due to lower revenue from middle class and upper class workers, while growing states like Texas and Florida are in surplus. Governor Andrew Cuomo noted a $2.3 billion hole in the state budget earlier this year, caused largely by oppressive policies that have gutted the local population and economy. More than 450,000 people moved out of New York in the last year alone.

In the Big Apple, the tax burden on high earners is onerous. The local government relies solely on the top 10 percent for over 70 percent of taxes, with the top 1 percent paying more than the bottom 90 percent combined. Any efforts to assist the most needy individuals are heavily dependent on the city keeping its reputation as a driver of the national economy. The accelerating outflow of middle class and upper class residents will no doubt tarnish that. As steep declines in revenue hit, spending cuts will burden the urban poor rather than the bureaucrats.

The current spending levels are likely unsustainable for the Big Apple in the long term. The New York City Council passed a $93 billion budget, which includes spending hikes of 6 percent for salaries, 9 percent for other employee benefits, 9 percent for debt service, 11 percent for health insurance, 12 percent for public assistance funding, and more. This local budget also set aside a new line item for taxpayer funded abortions, an army of new social workers, and even a package for the Green New Deal….

SCOTUS Ruling All But Guarantees State Criminal Charges For 💩Trump💩

The Supreme Court ruled 7-2 (Justices Ginsburg and Gorsuch dissenting) to uphold the “dual sovereignty” doctrine. That means that state law is separate and independent from federal law in relation to “double jeopardy,” that is, being putting on trial twice for the same act. Which means in turn that Trump loyalists charged and convicted under state law can’t be pardoned by Trump.

As many court watches noted, last Monday was a bad day for Paul Manafort, because this ruling means Trump will not be able to pardon Manafort on convictions under State law. It was also a bad day for Donald Trump because it means his pardon power is smaller than he thought, and it’s very likely that he could face criminal charges under State law.

There’s a special sprinkling of karma in the fact that it was Justice Alito, a Federalist Society pick, who wrote the opinion that would uphold the dual sovereignty doctrine.

“We have long held that a crime under one sovereign’s laws is not “the same offence” as a crime under the laws of another sovereign. Under this “dual-sovereignty” doctrine, a State may prosecute a defendant under state law even if the Federal Government has prosecuted him for the same conduct under a federal statute.”

He went on to outline why the rule also applies to reversed circumstances, as was the basis for argument in Gamble vs. The United States.

The court rejected Gamble’s argument that the practice is a departure from the Constitution’s original understanding, describing the evidence supporting that argument as “feeble; pointing the other way are the Clause’s text, other historical evidence, and 170 years of precedent.”

Court observers watched this case because it affects the scope of the president’s pardon power. As Greg Stohr put it,

“Elimination of the separate-sovereigns rule would have meant that a presidential pardon might block some state charges as well.”

So while Trump may have the capacity to pardon his loyalists in the event his heavily politicized DOJ prosecutes them, there is nothing he can do to attack the rule of law at the state level.

Applying the same logic, this means that any state who may be listening and who wishes to prosecute Trump on state law should go right ahead and do it. Americans will thank them mightily.

As we know, Trump is Individual 1 in the indictment that led to Michael Cohen’s conviction for which he is currently serving time in jail.
Michael Cohen confirmed it during congressional testimony back in February.

“Last fall I pled guilty in federal court to felonies for the benefit of, at the direction of, and in coordination with Individual Number 1. And for the record, Individual Number 1 is President Donald J. Trump.”

Trump and his propaganda force can try to smear Michael Cohen all they wish; that isn’t going to stop the State of New York from pursuing criminal charges against him for the very crimes that sent a disgraced, disbarred Michael Cohen to prison.

Monday’s Supreme Court ruling increased the possibility that Donald J. Trump will face some of the same charges that put his former “fixer” in jail.

In other words, not only does the ruling shrink Trump’s pardon power from what he hoped it would be, it also increases the possibility that he will face criminal charges under New York law.

It’s possible New York may wish to pursue charges that are separate and apart from Trump’s activities with Mr. Cohen. According to an article published last year, Trump is the subject of several investigations in New York some of which stem from the Mueller investigation. Others include an investigation of his inaugural committee, investigations into Trump’s organizations, including one for potential tax fraud.

The Supreme Court’s ruling closed the door on Manafort’s hope for a pardon, it shrunk Trump’s pardon power and increased the possibility of his prosecution under New York law. The Court did it with support from one of Trump’s chosen Supreme Court justices, Brett Kavanaugh. Even Justice Thomas abandoned his previous opinion on double sovereignty, – an opinion that would have expanded Trump’s pardon power.

Nothing about the ruling bodes well for Donald Trump’s interpretation of his powers as presidency or the extent to which the presidency can shield him from legal accountability. Even justices that are close to Trump on many other issues, distanced themselves from him in this case.

  5. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Refuses Invitation to Visit Auschwitz Concentration Camp

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) refused Sunday to visit the Auschwitz concentration camp, after a Jewish group had invited her to tour that camp and others this summer to educate herself about the facts of the Holocaust.

Last Monday evening, Ocasio-Cortez compared detention facilities for illegal aliens caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border to “concentration camps,” adding the phrase “never again,” which commonly refers to the Nazi Holocaust.

The remark drew outrage and criticism, even from fellow Democrats. Nevertheless, Ocasio-Cortez doubled down, first claiming that she had not been referring to Nazi Germany, then drawing parallels to the U.S. internment of Japanese-Americans during the Second World War. “I will never apologize for calling these camps what they are,” she tweeted….

Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the 29-year-old former bartender turned member of Congress, ignorantly announced on Monday that President Trump “has established concentration camps on the southern border.”

“This administration has established concentration camps on the southern border of the United States for immigrants, where they are being brutalized with dehumanizing conditions and dying. This is not hyperbole. It is the conclusion of expert analysis,” she wrote on Twitter, citing a magazine article.

AOC made the ridiculous and offensive comparison for political gain.

Her tweet was so ignorant the Auschwitz Museum invited Ocasio-Cortez and MSNBC hack Chris Hayes to get educated on the horrors of real concentration camps.

…On Thursday Polish lawmaker Dominik Tarczynski wrote a letter inviting Ocasio-Cortez to Poland to study the concentration camps for real under the Nazi regime, “So you can see first hand how different it is from your immigration processing centers on the US Border.”….

Elizabeth Warren Wants Reparations For Same-Sex Couples

Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren has added “gay and lesbian couples” to the growing list of groups for whom she would support reparations.

Citing a tax code that was “discriminatory” against non-heterosexual married couples, Warren tweeted Saturday, “It wasn’t until marriage equality became law that gay & lesbian couples could jointly file tax returns—so they paid more in taxes. Our government owes them more than $50M for the years our discriminatory tax code left them out. We must right these wrongs.”

  7. Illegal Convicted of Rape Ordered To Leave US… 3 Days Later He Paid a Gut-Wrenching Visit to Victim

The liberal idea of turning a city into a sanctuary for illegal immigrants nearly cost a wheelchair-bound woman her life, after an attacker — who was supposed to be deported to Mexico — repeatedly assaulted her.

According to Breitbart, Francisco Carranza Ramirez, 35, an illegal alien who had been living in America for an undisclosed amount of time, raped a disabled 32-year-old woman in her King County, Washington, home in September 2018.

After she survived the assault, thanks to quick thinking and dialing 911 after she convinced the attacker that she had to use the bathroom, police arrested the man. He was charged with third-degree rape….

While Ramirez beat her and strangled her, a good Samaritan witnessed the attack and was able to get the illegal alien off of her before calling police. Unfortunately she suffered cuts, bruises, swelling and a seizure after the brutal attack.

Bryan Wilcox, Acting Field Office Director for Seattle ICE, regrets that his office didn’t have a chance to snag Ramirez while he was in custody.

“I think this was largely preventable,” Wilcox said. “It’s regrettable that we didn’t have the opportunity to properly engage this person while he was detained by King County and perhaps take him into custody of our own.”….
