“LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB” FOR MAY 13, 2019

“LEFT JAB AND RIGHT JAB”

“Right Jab And Left Jab” was created because we have two commenters that post on a daily basis either in our “IS IT TRUE” or “Readers Forum” columns concerning National or International issues.
Joe Biden and Ronald Reagan’s comments are mostly about issues of national interest.  The majority of our “IS IT TRUE” columns are about local or state issues, so we have decided to give Mr. Biden and Mr. Reagan exclusive access to our newly created “LEFT JAB and RIGHT JAB”  column. They now have this post to exclusively discuss national or world issues that they feel passionate about.
We shall be posting the “LEFT JAB” AND “RIGHT JAB” several times a week.  Oh, “Left Jab” is a liberal view and the “Right Jab is representative of the more conservative views. Also, any reader who would like to react to the written comments of the two gentlemen is free to do so.

  1. President Trump Signs Bill to Fund State-Level Gun Range Expansion

The legislation is titled Target Practice and Marksmanship Training Support Act, but is known more simply as the Range Bill. It deals with Pittman-Robinson funds, which have been compounding from ammo and gun manufacturing excise tax revenues since 1937….

The NSSF estimates an expansion in gun range funding will result in an expansion of ammo and firearm demand for those ranges, which means more money will end up in the Pittman-Robinson funds as ammo and firearm makers pay the excise tax on their products. The great news is that the Pittman-Robinson funds “are the funds that drive wildlife restoration and conservation programs,” so as they grow so too does conservation.

In 1937, the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act , also known as the Pittman-Robertson Act, authorized that excise tax revenue from the sale of firearms and ammunition products be apportioned to State Fish and Game Agencies on a variety of projects related to wildlife, conservation efforts and shooting programs. Since the program’s inception, over $10.1 billion has been collected and awarded to states.

    • NRA Accidentally Sends Wayne LaPierre’s Credit Card Bills To Ad Company

These gun nuts do not play nice! In the run-up to the NRA’s April 29 board meeting, then-president Oliver North teamed up with the gunhumpers’ longtime advertising company Ackerman McQueen and threatened to release damaging info about the NRA’s finances if Wayne LaPierre didn’t quit immediately as CEO

But all has not returned to normal in Ammoland. In fact nothing has been normal since the NRA sued Ackerman McQueen to force it to account for all the money it spent, $42 million in 2017 alone. Last summer, the NRA bigwigs had a come to Jesus moment and finally grokked that the State of New York was for serious going to eat their lunch if they didn’t get their books in order. They had made one or twelve little ooopsies and failed to disclose millions of dollars in payments to board members and their families, or (since the NRA is a “nonprofit) that would be “related party transactions” in IRS-speak. So the organization resolved to turn over a new leaf and get square before New York Attorney General Letitia James dropped the hammer

This weekend, the Wall Street Journal got its hands on some of the info sent to NRA board members in last month’s tussle. Seems that in 2014, Ackerman McQueen gave Ol’ Wayne an AmEx card and he used that card A LOT:

“At your request, we issued you an American Express card and agreed to the travel fee with the intent to keep your business travel confidential and secure. Due to your demands in the lawsuit, we are notifying you that you have failed to provide written approvals, receipts, and other support for expenses related to your travel, etc. Thus it is imperative that you provide this information timely so that we may comply with your requests for information. Please be reminded that these actions were taken expressly upon your demand”

Translation: Hey, Worthless Wayne, you know you’ve been hiding hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of charter flights and designer suits on our books. If you make us cough up our crap, yours is coming out too

And, indeed, it is coming out. Will NRA donors be delighted to find out that LaPierre billed the “advertising” company $39,000 for clothes at Zegna in Beverly Hills on one day in 2015, and $21,080 for another spree in 2017? Will they be only too happy to foot the bill for $110,000 in charter flights in January of 2013 alone? The NRA has been crying poor and recently axed free coffee for employees, but who could argue with paying $4,500/month in rent for Wayne’s summer intern?

Some might think that a public charity exchanges its right to financial secrecy for tax-exempt status, that it’s kind of the deal you strike with the IRS. But the NRA’s lawyer William Brewer had a perfectly good explanation, previously has said the vast majority of Mr. LaPierre’s travel expenses charged to the ad firm were for “donor outreach, fundraising and stakeholder engagement” and were being reviewed by the board. The NRA also has said Mr. LaPierre’s clothing expenses were justified due to his many public appearances

Those are all words. They have nothing to do with why the PR firm paid the bills for LaPierre’s travel and clothing, but you tried. Let’s take a wild shot in the dark that Wayne’s credit card has nothing to do with the nonsense Brewer is arglebargling.

The holy grail of charities is to pay as little as possible overhead so that you can brag to donors that over 80 percent of their contribution goes to programming (for the NRA turning the entire country into a shooting gallery) and isn’t being sucked up by the charity’s employees.

And your FDF may think it’s a stupid metric which incentivizes poverty wages and high staff turnover at non-profits, but that’s neither here nor there. Charities live or die by this and it gives them every reason in the world to bury inconvenient details about the CEO’s bloated clothing and travel allowance in the “costs” and call it “donor outreach, fundraising and stakeholder engagement” hypothetically speaking

Don’t worry, boys. We’re sure Ms. James will go easy on you. Just send Granny Gun out there to talk about how easy it is for black women to get elected these days. It will all be just fine

        • Why don’t you unground something more intelligent for once instead of one liners?

Could it be that instead of going by “Mom” that maybe you should consider “Bitch” for a moniker?

    • Day 844: Rules and (Ab)Norms

1/ The White House asked Don McGahn to declare that Trump never obstructed justice. Two requests by presidential advisers show how far the White House has gone to try to push back on accusations that the president obstructed justice. McGahn initially entertained the request. “We did not perceive it as any kind of threat or something sinister,” McGahn’s attorney said in a statement. “It was a request, professionally and cordially made.” (New York Times)

2/ Leaked letters reveal the details of NRA Chief Wayne LaPierre’s alleged spending. National Rifle Association CEO Wayne LaPierre billed the group’s ad agency $39,000 for one day of shopping at a Beverly Hills clothing boutique, $18,300 for a car and driver in Europe, and had the agency cover $13,800 in rent for a summer intern, according to newly revealed NRA internal documents. (Wall Street Journal)

3/ The White House decried the investigations by House Democrats and complained that they are not following “rules and norms.” The White House on Sunday decried Democratic-led congressional investigations, saying Democrats are refusing to abide by “rules and norms” that govern oversight authority as they issue subpoenas for documents the Trump administration refuses to hand over. (CNN)

Suddenly, conservative lawyers are condemning Trump for abuses of power. Prominent Republican lawyers are pushing back against Trump’s defiance of subpoenas and expansive claims of executive privilege and immunity from prosecution. (Los Angeles Times)

4/ China is raising tariffs on $60 billion of U.S. goods starting on June 1. The move to impose steeper tariffs on U.S. goods comes in response to Trump’s decision to hike tariffs on $200 billion in Chinese goods. Trump’s trade approach is also under attack back in the U.S. as China readies retaliation and the markets prepare for a big sell-off. (CNBC / Washington Post)

Trump disputes impact of tariffs on American consumers, but warns China not to retaliate. The president accused Beijing of backing out of a “great deal” last week. (Politico)

5/ Trump aide Larry Kudlow acknowledged that U.S. consumers will be the ones who pay for Trump’s tariffs, not China. “Both sides will suffer on this,” Kudlow said. Trump’s decision to renew his trade war with China could inflict lasting damage on the American economy, but the ultimate impact depends on how far the president takes the fight. (NBC News / New York Times)

6/ Nadler is under pressure from calls for “inherent contempt.” The House Judiciary Committee chairman faces pressure to get tougher with the Trump administration and start threatening fines or jail time as punishment for noncompliance. (Politico)

7/ The Pentagon will pull money from its ballistic missile and surveillance plane programs in order to fund Trump’s border wall. The Defense Department, under Trump, intends to reprogram $2.5 billion that was originally designated by Congress for other projects. (Washington Post)

Is there a connection between undocumented immigrants and crime?. It’s a widely held perception, but a new analysis finds no evidence to support it. (New York Times)

8/ Omarosa wants to join a lawsuit alleging that women were underpaid by the Trump campaign. A former campaign staffer who accused Trump of sexual misconduct and pay discrimination filed a motion Monday asking for a judge to allow others, including Omarosa, to join her initial lawsuit filed in February. (Washington Post)

  2. Coincidence?
    ………………..

The district that elected controversial Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar is also the terrorist recruitment capital of the United States.

“More men and boys from a Somali American community in Minneapolis have joined – or attempted to join – a foreign terrorist organization over the last 12 years than any other jurisdiction in the country,” Fox News reported.

The Muslim community is a part of Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which is now represented by Omar. Omar is one of two Muslim women elected to the House in November.

The FBI has at least 45 recorded instances of Somalis from that community leaving the country to join radical Islamic terrorist groups like al-Shabab or ISIS, according to Fox.

    • Trumpkin Troll Tries To Defend Smear On Mayor Pete–And Fails

It’s been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad 2019 for right-wing provocateur and super-troll Jacob Wohl. The guy best known for applauding Donald Trump’s more outrageous tweets literally talked himself into a ban from Twitter. He’s a federal criminal investigation for falsely smearing Robert Mueller as a sexual predator, as well as a state investigation in Minnesota for filing a false police report. What’s more, many of his charades are well documented, meaning that any effort to defend him in court will be a very hard battle

Now it’s likely his cause became even more of an uphill battle with news that he tried to falsely smear South Bend mayor and Democratic presidential hopeful Pete Buttigeg as a sexual predator. Wohl and his comrade-in-arms, Jack Burkman, held a press conference at which they were supposedly due to offer the extraordinary evidence to support their extraordinary claim that Mayor Pete really was guilty of sexual assault. It didn’t go well

Outside Burkman’s home in Northern Virginia, Wohl tried to analyze some grainy footage of Hunter Kelly, whom he and Burkman recruited for their scheme to frame Buttigeg–a classic gay-shaming trope. In case you missed it, Kelly traveled to Virginia after Wohl invited him to take part in a “political operation.” In the wee hours of April 29, Wohl showed him a draft of a post in which Kelly accused Buttigeg of sexually assaulting him

Wohl and Burkman went live with the accusation anyway, and even created a fake Twitter account under his name. After returning to his home in Michigan, Kelly took to Facebook and accused Wohl and Burkman of rooking him into a setup. This tracks very closely with how Wohl rooked an innocent woman into accusing Mueller of assaulting her

As it turns out, this press conference was a fail even before it started. On Monday, Burkman claimed to have discovered an Eventbrite page for a planned protest of their press conference. But it turned out that the event’s organizer was using Wohl’s email address–an apparent reprise of the bogus intelligence firm Wohl created to “investigate” Mueller.

If Wohl has engaged anyone to defend him against the all-but-certain state and federal charges he will face for his stunts, it can safely be assumed that his lawyers were running around screaming. After all, exposed liars never look good in front of juries. And with this many lies now in the public record, anyone wanting to defend him must now see that he or she is on a suicide mission.

Wohl is only 21 years old. And yet, between his ban from the futures industry, his noxious trolling for Trump, and these smear jobs, he’s all but assured that he will likely never get another job at any reputable employer. That, of course, assumes that he gets out of jail while theoretically young enough to still make a living

    • Teens Targeted Black And Disabled Classmates As They Planned To Kill As Many People As Possible In School Shooting

Prosecutor: Students wanted attack to be ‘record’ mass murder

Two students charged with plotting a mass shooting at Etowah High School in Georgia said that they were looking to specifically target African American and disabled students

The two were arrested after police received a tip about their plans. A journal detailing the attack was turned over to investigators. Their journal was filled with racial slurs and swastikas, and said that they planned on killing African American students

The students appeared in court on Friday in front of Cherokee County Superior Court Judge Ellen McElyea and pleaded guilty. They were indicted on six counts each of conspiracy to commit murder, one count of conspiracy to commit arson and one count of unlawful possession of a destructive device, according to court documents

The duo said that they studied mass shootings in the past and wanted to kill more people than any other mass shooting. One of them admitted to saying “We’d like to get our numbers up higher than Las Vegas“

They also had a “kill list” of people they were targeting. The “kill list” included the names of five students and one teacher. They also planned to create “a flammable chemical weapon”

Cherokee County Assistant District Attorney said the defendants planned to use smoke bombs to “corral” students and faculty into a confined area where they planned to use “napalm and firearms” to “kill as many people as they could”

    • Go-Fund-Me-Wall Guy Brian Kolfage Robbed You Bigots Blind

Back in December when Nancy Pelosi told Trump in words of three syllables or less that he was never getting a WALL, Brian Kolfage stepped forward to offer “illegal”-hating patriots the honor of funding Trump’s WALL themselves. All Kolfage asked for in return was every penny these fools contributed

See, it’s now the middle of May and there’s still no WALL, not even a couple bricks and a bag of cement. Kolfage bilked gullible xenophobes for $22 million and counting. That won’t build much of a WALL, but he should have more to show for his hard-swindled dollars. The WALL donors, technically known as “marks,” dreamed of crying migrant children banging their bleeding hands against a barrier representing cutting-edge Middle Ages technology. Now, they’re demanding proof of racist concept

We Build The Wall is the BS organization Kolfage founded with political hacks and fine citizens such as former Kansas secretary of state Kris Kobach, Blackwater founder Erik Prince, and “Sheriff” David Clarke. We Build The Wall claimed its “highly experienced team is highly confident that we can complete significant segments of the wall in less time, and for far less money, than the federal government, while meeting or exceeding all required regulatory, engineering, and environmental specifications”

These guys couldn’t even bother to stage a bogus groundbreaking ceremony. Just buy a shovel and a box of sparkling wine at Costco. You’re not faking the moon landing here

As recently as March, Kolfage claimed We Build The Wall had identified eight possible locations to start building WALL. He wouldn’t say where because liberals might show up and steal the shovels and wine. Also, the locations probably didn’t exist

“I wish I could name where [the spots are], but we can’t name [them] because of the ACLU, these other liberal groups who want to sue us and impede our progress. But it’s actually happening, the process is happening . . . the project is moving forward”

Yeah, so, nothing is actually happening. There is no process, and the project is not going anywhere. Trump at least put forth some piddling effort to deliver WALL. He even held federal employees hostage for a while. It was a whole thing. Kolfage can only get saucy on Twitter about the recent articles detailing his corruption.

    • Eric Bolling Proves ‘Be Best’ Is A Fraud

Last spring Melania Trump launched “Be Best” a public awareness campaign seeking to combat cyberbullying and drug use. However, this campaign has been a fraud from the start. After all, it’s awfully hard to call out cyberbullying when your husband is one of the most infamous trolls on the Internet

Incredibly Trump himself tacitly admitted that “Be Best” was a fraud. According to The New York Times–excuse me, The Failing New York Times–Trump urged his wife to pick another campaign because he rightly feared it would turn the hot lights on his own Twitter habits. Trump’s concern was understandable. Remember, this is a man who finds it acceptable to plaster a private cell phone number on social media, has no qualms about calling women “dog” and “horseface,” and who retweets hateful, degrading and violent memes about his foes

But if we needed even more confirmation that this campaign is a fraud, among the people who came to the White House to celebrate the one-year anniversary of “Be Best” was a man who was fired for–you guessed it–trolling Eric Bolling

Bolling came under fire earlier in 2017 amid reports that he sent lewd pictures and made grossly degrading comments to female colleagues at Fox. Fox suspended him indefinitely pending investigation. The move happened so abruptly that Fox was forced to replace an already-taped edition of Bolling’s Saturday morning show, “Cashin’ In” with an extended news block

Bolling never returned to the air, he and Fox agreed to “part ways” a month later. It’s pretty telling that Bolling, who had been one of the network’s stars for a decade, wasn’t allowed a chance to say goodbye on the air. He eventually found his way to Mark Levin’s CRTV, which has since merged with Glenn Beck’s TheBlaze

Given “Be Best” also focuses on cyberbulling, you would think Melania would have found someone who wasn’t drummed out of his job for harassing women

It seems hard to believe that Melania couldn’t have invited other people and yet have less checkered pasts. Why not invite some of the victims of American Pain, the South Florida “pain clinic” that was the biggest pill mill in the country?

By definition, when a First Lady tries to run an anti-cyberbullying campaign while her husband has few qualms about engaging in trolling and cyberbullying, that campaign is a fraud. The fact that Melania saw fit to give the spotlight to a man fired for sexual harassment as part of that campaign is yet more proof that Be Best is BS

    • Federal Judge Overrules Lower Court To Keep Suspected Coast Guard Terrorist Behind Bars

Christopher Hasson was set to be released by a local court after federal prosecutors were unable to prove a terrorism charge. However, a U.S. District Court has overruled that decision as prosecutors wade through the evidence to pinpoint charges about a possible terrorist attack

Hasson, was arrested in February when investigators discovered an arsenal of weapons, list of targets and searches for which elected officials and Supreme Court justices were not protected by the U.S. Secret Service

Hasson was in the Coast Guard and lived in a basement apartment in Silver Spring, Maryland when he was caught with the weapons and data. He is just one of many white supremacists that the FBI is keeping close tabs on, according to reports last week. Thus far about 850 domestic terrorists are under the watchful eye of law enforcement

“In writings the government seized, Hasson called himself a long time white nationalist and skinhead and said he was ‘dreaming of a way to kill almost every last person on earth,’” The Washington Post cited court documents. “Hasson searched the address of Supreme Court judges, bought books on ‘white identity’ and “white advocacy” and studied the manifesto of a Norwegian mass attacker who killed 77”

  3. Finally, a real European leader that also protects his citizens from the national suicide of illegal immigration:
    ……………………………………….
Hungarian President Viktor Orban Praises President Trump in White House: We Stand Together to Fight Illegal Immigration, Terrorism and to Protect Christians

    https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/05/victor-orban-praises-president-trump-in-white-house-we-stand-together-to-fight-illegal-immigration-terrorism-and-to-protect-christians-video/

    • Viktor “Trump Before Trump” Orban Meets the Current Trump in the Oval Office

At this point, it’s hard to be surprised when Trump gets chummy with an authoritarian leader. After he applauded Kim Jong-un’s leadership at various points last year, praising Viktor Orban’s doesn’t seem that shocking

Still, it would be a mistake to dismiss the significance of the Hungarian prime minister’s visit Monday to the White House. (Trump said Orban is doing a “tremendous job” and that he’s “probably, like me, a little bit controversial, but that’s OK.”) He’s the first Hungarian leader to step foot in the Oval Office since 2005. President George W. Bush declined to invite Orban—during his first stint as prime minister—after the 9/11 attacks because Orban had failed to denounce a far-right politician who said the U.S. had deserved them. Orban reportedly believed that the snub had something to do with his election defeat soon after

This visit comes two weeks before European Parliament elections, in which Orban’s Fidesz party is expected to perform well, campaigning on opposition to migration. Fidesz, which has slid from the center to the far right under Orban, was recently suspended from the European Parliament’s center-right grouping, so the embrace from the leader of the free world is a major international vote of confidence, not only for the Hungarian but for the European far-right in general

Orban clearly has more to gain from this meeting than Trump does, but in some ways he’s the senior partner in the relationship. Not only was he the first world leader to endorse Trump’s candidacy in 2016, he’s been at the vanguard of the global wave of right-wing populism years before Trump brought it to Washington. Not for nothing has noted admirer Steve Bannon described Orban as “Trump before Trump.” Orban pioneered many of the zero tolerance anti-immigration policies that Trump has been working to implement in the United States. Activists accused Hungary last month of systematically denying food to asylum-seekers. Trump praised him today for having “done the right thing, according to many people, on immigration”

Orban has framed these efforts as an attempt to preserve Hungary’s Christian civilization. He’s vilified academia and done more than anyone to turn Hungarian-born financier George Soros into a global political boogeyman for the right. He’s a close ally of Russia’s Vladimir Putin, and despite allegations of anti-Semitism over his anti-Soros fearmongering, he’s on good terms with Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu as well

At the same time, Orban’s party has worked to consolidate its power by undermining the independence of the judiciary, cracking down on free media, and sidelining opposition parties. Orban has described his preferred political system as “illiberal democracy.” Ideology aside, has this made the Trump administration any more cautious about backing Orban? Not judging from U.S. Ambassador to Hungary David Cornstein, a New York jeweler and longtime friend of Trump’s, who recently told Franklin Foer of the Atlantic, “I can tell you, knowing the president for a good 25 or 30 years, that he would love to have the situation that Viktor Orbán has, but he doesn’t”

Critics of Trump often accuse him of using the power of his office to boost tyrants and authoritarians in other countries. In this case, however, the bigger concern is that he’s taking notes
