  1. It seems to this reader that the current ECTA proposal violates both the number of new courts and the time frame allowed.
    IMHO

  2. Paragraph 4, page 2, Use, Conduct of Business, and Compliance with Law seems to be the key to this debate. Is use for private lessons resulting in the general public not being able to use the courts?

  3. One of the proposals is for an underground garage. It’d be pretty hard to build on top of that. I can also see why they want all their facilities in one location.

  4. The time frame for completion of the new courts is long past and the size (3000-5000 square foot)) of the building in the contract is way off of the ECTA’s proposed 43,000 sq ft. Yet ECTA argues that it is still within its rights to do these things. Apparently the park board needs a good lawyer because it has okayed this plan.

  5. Seems that written contacts have no bearing on the hush hush sweetheart deals. If it is such a great deal, why is no private enterprise stepping up. Oh wait, private enterprise has to fulfill its contracts to get funding. There is no public mandate to support this project. In my opinion, ECTA doesn’t want the general public to see how this is a grab for public funds AND parkland for the construction of a facility that will be used as a club by individuals. Every time ECTA makes the news people see more and more that ECTA is trying to destroy a HUGE chunk of Wesselman park for ECTA’S PRIVATE use.

  6. Does anyone ever have anything positive to say about things that are happening in your area? It’s always the same individuals saying the same things. Without question that bias that this site attracts is second to none! BTW, is it true that I have some new info concerning your hotel. Is it true that some of the employees at London Witte have worked over the weekend and are scheduled to work 12 hr. days until the proposals have been vetted? Is it true that the axe is poised to cut off Prime lodging’s head? Is it true that they did a reference check on Chris Veriville concerning previous projects and it was decided that he does not have to ability to complete a project of this magnitude?

  7. Griping about Politics is as American as Apple Pie, all I can say is, Positive is on it’s way, January 2012 is just 138 days away and the
dynamics change with King John’s exit.

  8. Great for ETCA. Over the years they have spent thousand of dollars and hundreds of hours to give Evansville a signature place to play and draw tournaments. Just think what it would look like if we let the Parts Department handle it all.

  9. I believe we have the opportunity to allow mostly private funds to add something special to Evansville. I have traveled thru the park and seldom see anyone in the area that will have additional courts. I see the same mentality here that opposed expanding the airport and building the Goebel soccer complex. Both have attracted business and events to this area that have boosted the economy. Why do we have so many people wishing to always go backwards?
