Keep cyclists Safe In Our Community By Wendy McNamara
It is very important for drivers to be aware of their surroundings.

There were 783 bicyclists killed in traffic crashes in the United States in 2017, with many of these tragic deaths preventable.

To protect cyclists, legislators passed a new law requiring vehicles to move over for cyclists. A large percentage of crashes can be avoided if motorists and cyclists follow the rules of the road and watch out for each other.

Please be considerate of those in our community who ride their bikes. Cyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as people behind the wheel of a vehicle, so give them room, and do not pass too closely. Pass bicyclists as you would any other vehicle — when it’s safe to move over into an adjacent lane.
