IS IT TRUE OCTOBER 6, 2015

32

IS IT TRUE that a couple members of City Council and Mayor Winnecke wasted $200,000 of our hard earned tax dollars on the failed Earthcare Energy project? …if  City Council members and the Mayor made a $200,000 mistake in the private sector they would had all been fired immediately?

IS IT TRUE our property tax assessments may have been discreetly increased for the last several years, which lead to our property tax payments being increased?  … if this is correct,  its time for our elected city officials to be held accountable?

IS IT TRUE  1st Ward  City Council member Dan McGinn and At-Large City Council member Jonathan Weaver hinted that they would support a tax increase in order to balance the 2016 budget?  …we wonder if they have thought about cutting the 2016 budget in order to balance it?

IS IT TRUE we are really surprised that not one candidate for City Council has suggested to do away with the $20,000 city paid Health Care coverage for all non-full time employees? …if they did they would save the taxpayers many hundred of thousands of dollars on the 2016 budget?

IS IT TRUE did you know that the son-in-law of County Council member Tom Shelter is running for the 5th Ward City Council seat?  …are you aware if At-Large City Council member Jonathan Weaver is elected that Tucker Realty will have two employees serving on City Council?  … the wife of County Commissioner Steve Melcher is running for the 3rd Ward City Council seat?

IS IT TRUE after the charges of murder were dropped against Bobby John Handegard Criminal Attorney Scott Danks was critical of the investigation conducted by the EPD? …Mr. Danks said; “Handegard volunteered to take a polygraph test as part of the investigation, but that offer was declined by the EPD”?

IS IT TRUE that reported crimes to the FBI is running rampant in the City of Evansville and has increased by a cross the board average 28% in 2104?

IS IT TRUE its time for DMD and ERC to give City Council the 1st quarterly report concerning the progress the Convention Hotel?  …that we predict DMD Director Cources will not provide City Council with this information until after the November election?

IS IT TRUE if you think that political patronage and political campaign donations run hand in hand you need to vote in todays “Readers Poll”?

IS IT TRUE we wonder if anyone has heard from out going 5th Ward City Councilman John Friend?  …the CCO readers really miss his comments concerning the over spending  habits of Mayor Winnecke?

  1. The private sector wouldn’t have necessarily fired someone for a 200k mistake.

  2. Re: crime. I saw another one if Winnie’s ads on Sunday during which he touted how much safer the city has become under his tenure. Don’t the numbers say that’s just a blatant lie?

    • @English: I saw a commercial last night trumpeting Winnecke’s successes . . . most disappointing is that he continues to insist that it was his Meth Task Force which reduced the number of meth lab seizures by 50 %; it had already been proven that the affordability of buying meth manufactured in Mexico vs. getting caught buying the precursors locally was the reason the number of labs went down. Very disappointed, but not surprised by the fudge.

  3. This one really caught my eye in today’s IIT:
“DO YOU THINK that political patronage and political campaign donations run hand in hand?
Ask Bandana…His rage against Winnecke is about anger at losing his gov’t job.

    • Attaboy baby, troll on. You’re a piece of work. You are also a liar, I’ve never had a ‘gov’t job’. Go take a couple of laps around our newly exteriored Greyhound Station, it’ll make you feel young again. Ho ho ho.

      • Bandana,
Well I am clearly wrong. I apologize, and I should not have made that assumption.

    • Do you even understand that people can feel strongly about the lousy job Lloyd and the Liars have done, even if it doesn’t relate to their income?

      • Absolutely LKB. Darn certain. I am one of them. (And evidently, so is Bandana. My bad, again.)
BUT, as Indiana Enoch is always pointing out, every time he uses the term “Giddy for Gail,” the Winnecke Administration and the Riecken Administration will BOTH employ governing tactics that reward political patronage and donor support. BOTH.
To suggest only Winnecke’s team does this is PREPOSTEROUS!

  4. Lloyd Winnecke is running the most untruthful and deceitful political ads in local memory. He has no record worthy of running on so he just hopes his city council ticket, only marginally cleaner than he is, can lug him to the finish line. A simple little front man, a conman’s mark. A failed mayor, not deserving of another term by any metric.

  5. Many public and private entities are changing their benefit plans so their employees can take advantage of Obamacare. A typical implementation is to give everyone a $5 an hour raise and eliminate the health benefit completely. The employees are then responsible for their own health insurance. If the City of Evansville did this it would save them $15 Million. Why has not one single candidate for anything proposed this solution? Methinks, the chickens are clucking about less impactful things and wallowing around in the weeds of insignificance.

  6. How about the workers at the Democrat’s Fall Festival booth that had the unauthorized campaign sign taped to their booth, all volunteer for polygraphs.

    • Three things that made the Fall Festival even more exciting.

First there was the Fall Festival “Boothgate” where the Democrat Central Committee clandestinely towed their booth to Area 51 or other secret grounds to avoid use by fellow Democrat party members.

Second, there was the Fall Festival “Floatgate”, filed with the pageantry and drama of a Democrat Central Committee insider arrested on the Democrat float:

Third, we now have the Fall Festival “Signgate”. “Campaign signs” of a suddenly mysterious and unknown origin, securely attached themselves to the Democratic booth blaming Republicans for the Inquisition, rise of ISIS and crop circles.

    • Is that Hargis bag the one that sits in the second row of the gallery during the city council meetings texting like there’s no tomorrow? Yep thought so, no damned improvement there. Bag!

      • Probably. If it’s her she’s likely hammering out a proposed tax increase on her abacus.

  7. EDITOR: The election is practically here.
McGinn and Weaver’s suggestion to increase taxes by 25% to solve budget problems is as bad a mistake as it gets when it comes to winning elections.
Is Mayor Winnecke willing to go on record to totally disavow that idea? No. The suggestion is likely from an overly confident Winnecke administration.
(BTW, Riecken needs to decide if she is willing to do that as well.)
In the closing days, THIS ISSUE should be made so large and so wide you could drive a Mack Truck through it.
It is an enormous mistake, and it should be seized upon by the Riecken campaign.

    • True, Don. But in order to gain politically Riecken must convincingly disavow the idea herself.

  8. You say: “IS IT TRUE that reported crimes to the FBI is running rampant in the City of Evansville and has increased by a cross the board average 28% in 2104?”
The mayor’s latest commercial brags about how the crime rate is down.

It is a shame that he has no real opposition.

Maybe we should vote, “none of the above”!

  9. Ya those so called “property tax caps” didn’t help a bit. The City/County is racing to max out the property tax credit card. They’ll max out those caps in no time…but it won’t stop your taxes from going up as the assessor keeps raising property VALUES (in a dying real estate market). To keep those taxes going up. Sigh…never ends
