IS IT TRUE October 4, 2012
IS IT TRUE that the morale of employees working in the Building Commission and Codes and Enforcement departments are rock bottom. …it been alleged by 6th Ward City Councilmen, Al Lindsey that one of the Mayor’s political patronage appointees working in these department may be getting special treatment from the Director, Ben Miller? … it may be worthwhile for Mr. Miller sit down and have a serious talk with Mr. Lindsey about his concerns?
IS IT TRUE that Terry White, Atty. candidate for Indiana State Senate has just released press statement committing to sponsoring legislation to assist our returning military Heroes and Wounded Warriors with tax credits and job assistance?… that we from reliable sources that State Senate Candidate Terry White campaign has received a major political jolt from this announcement?…we are now hearing that this race may becoming too close to call?
IS IT TRUE that Executive Director Diane Clements of the Human Relations Commission has rolled up her sleeves and done the legwork to uncover an agreement between the City of Evansville and Vanderburgh County that calls for an 87% – 13% contribution ratio as opposed to the 91% – 9% asserted as justification for reducing the contribution approved unanimously by the County Commissioners?…Ms. Clements in a very real way by her research and her willingness to release it to the media has made the Vanderburgh County Commissioners look rather misinformed?…she should be commended for her thoroughness on behalf of her employer, the HRC?…that good diligence does not excuse the runaway pursuit of settlements at the expense of the Evansville Rescue Mission but it does show good management skills?…there have been many people who have shown good management skills and sound judgment in the non-profit world of Evansville, IN who have made elected officials look like dopes before and all of these people are no longer serving in the positions they once held?…the CCO encourages Ms. Clements to reflect on the agency that she has run, to expose any SNEGAL activities she has had to deal with, and to out any individuals whether elected or not for being dopes?…she can then look forward to a better job in another location as the dopes in charge in Evansville are very skilled at protecting their territory?
IS IT TRUE that it has now been 6 days since the City of Evansville was exposed for having failed to reconcile their accounts for 21 months?…there has been no one called on the carpet for an explanation, no accountability administered, and even a proclamation from Mayor Winnecke that it is all better now?…that it seems as though the powers that be just do not understand the gravity of failing to comply with Indiana law and not having the ability to count the taxpayer’s money for 21 months?…of all of the idiotic things that make one’s head spin that has been exposed in the last 3 years this one is the most serious yet the powers that be are cavalier about it?…that next Monday night at the regular meeting of the Evansville City Council there had better be some call for explanation and accountability demanded by Councilman John Friend, CPA and at least 4 other members of the Council?…the CCO invites all 9 members of the City Council to write position papers on what they think about the City of Evansville’s random and chaotic method of accounting that has been concealed for 21 months until last week’s release of the State Board of Accounts Audit that came with a DISCLAIMER?…that in all fairness current Mayor Lloyd Winnecke and Controller Russ Lloyd Jr. were dealt a rotten hand straight from the bottom of the deck by the Weinzapfel Administration in this matter?…that the CCO believes that the people of Evansville deserve to know if former Mayor Weinzapfel even gave Mayor Winnecke the courtesy of advising him that the accounts were never reconciled in 2011?…if the Winnecke Administration was hung out to dry and had to learn this information in February 2012 when trying to reconcile as opposed to learning it from the outgoing administration that is a real problem that needs to be dealt with?
Thanks Mr. White for standing up for those that defend our nation. My father tells stories of coming home from Vietnam and being called names by people and treated like a leper. Anytime an elected official or political figure stands up for our heroes it is a big deal to myself and my family. I have an 19yo son preparing to enter the Navy and thank you for thinking of his future and our nation’s.
Mr. White is the only Democrat that I’m voting for because he is far more conservative than Ms. Becker.
You will be woefully surprised if Mr. White goes to Indy. I guarantee you that you will be very disappointed.
I wont be disappointed. I have known Terry for 30 years he will make an excellent servant of the people. I have yet to read anything positive you have ever said about anyone. I think its time for someone that truly represents the values of the area he/she seeks to represent should be elected. If we elected more people like that our state wouldn’t be in the mess its in.
I have not made up my mind about this race, but IMHO, Becker has two negatives. I detest legacies, and she is one. Becker is a RINO.
The political makeup of the Senate will not change substantially if White is elected; it will remain overwhelmingly Republican.
Fair and balance IS IT TRUE in todays CCO.
Can’t wait to next Mondays City Council meeting to hear the real story of who caused the City of Evansville bookkeeping problems.
Good job CCO.
Who caused the bookkeeping problems? The answer is simple. Pretty Boy Weinzapfel. He promoted a non-CPA to the Controller’s Office. Princess Jenny didn’t help matters and she had an idiot become the “MUNIS expert” and Jenny listens to Umbaugh like they are an accounting God. Jenny also gets a “F” in Project Management 101 by not running the old and new systems parallel and she also gets a “F” in Accounting 101 for allowing payables and receivables in the cash basis records. Why in the world would you not reconcile for a year and not ask for help?
Umbaugh recommended this software because they knew that they would f__k up and could bill them tons of hours to “fix” it. The Council is to blame too. They should be reviewing reconcilements and reports at least on a monthly basis.
I am also concerned about voter morale. When voters see individuals in government offices violating statute at will, with absolutely no repercussions, their morale is negatively effected.
This question is for Mayor Winnecke and I would like a response instead of the stonewalling we have gotten thus far:
Why did you not go public with the information, as soon as you were made aware, that the financial ledgers of the City of Evansville were unreconciled and had been so for the last 12 months of the Weinzapfel administration?
Why did you continue to withhold that information from the public for another 9 months during which the ledgers continued to be unreconciled under your administration?
Regardless of whether the local newspaper ever musters enough journalist ethics to confront you on this issue, YOU owe an answer to the citizens of Evansville.
___
If he were a Super Mayor you could be be-headed for questioning His authority, enjoy your freedom.
Press…..
You know as well as I that there is only two possible answers, the first and most serious concern is that they simply think that it isn’t a big problem, this mind set is either because of stupidity, or lack of having a serious interest in the job they are performing be it the mayor or any subordinate.
The second reason for the lackadaisical attitude is that there is no consequences for screwing up, you know everything in private life has a cause and effect that we have to live with based on the decisions we make…not true for government, be it massive spending on stupid stuff like front door pride homes, or a year and a half of not balancing the city books, no one is going to get a reprimand or even the possibility of losing their job.
And yes there is the third choice that they are all in cahoots with each other playing the CYA game protecting the current and past administrations major players, my gut tells me that this is the case, and that the depth of corruption goes much deeper than it appears on the surface.
My personal opinion is that it includes players on the city council, county council, city department heads, county department heads, non-elected members of both political parties, along with select members of both city and county administration personal. I’m not saying that our entire city/county government and both political parties are corrupt but that there is enough rot so to speak to perpetuate a atmosphere of lets say “little chicago”
If we get less than Ms Collins hauled in front of the council and grilled about the violation created by her department (at that time) and the current violation in the position she now holds, and reject the notion that it’s all software related demanding credible answers it’ll just be yet another dog and pony show to give the public the impression that we do care and are trying to figure out what went wrong and fix the problem.
I’m not that optimistic given the track record of our city council…but we will see.
Again it’s JMHO
More like a 3 ring circus and smoke and mirrors magic show all in one!
Looks like the City Controller, Russ Lloyd, Jr. is once again putting his head in the political sand by not talking with Building Commission employees to check and see if all financial records and time cards were filled out correctley.
Day 6, correct me if I’m wrong, there has been no mention of the audit on local TV to date. Where is that buffoon that always seems to be “Taking A Stand” on local news 14? Take a real stand on something instead of spouting off about someone else’s ideas, thoughts, and talking points. Take a stand for the betterment of this city. Take a stand for the people.
He took a stand against the “naysayers” concerning the Ford Center and Robert’s Stadium and anything else that fit the weinzapfel/winneke agenda.
Where is he now? I know. Checking with the two W’s on what he should say or not say.
Rumplebeancounter brought in new auditors on Monday! This is against State Statute as an “Unreasonable Cost” and according it, he’ll be personally liable for their cost.
He disagrees with the State Board and their Disclaimer and the Governor’s decision not to appeal. Whoever this CPA firm is shouldn’t touch this with a ten foot pole and the reader should be aware that it is probably a review or an agreed upon procedure which means limited scope.
That is so arrogant to think that he’s above the auditors. It’s probably not smart to piss off the State Board because they’ll be back next year.
Friend is evidently a FRIEND to who ever is in the Mayor’s office. It is his job to know the conditions of city accounts as finance chair. He explains if SBOA had not met with him in July he wouldn’t have known. Yet, after that meeting, he chairs the budget hearings for next year, knowing that th COUNCIL should investigate the books before budget hearings. Friend, Weaver, Messy, McGinn, Robinson as Pres of this circus, NEED TO RESIGN.
Here’s a spin for ya….
I’ve been told more than once in the last few months that if consolidation doesn’t pass and Eric Williams decides not to run for mayor (as rumored) then Mr Friend is the powers that be’s next choice to take the throne….didn’t mean much at the time, but it does have me asking more questions and paying closer attention to what Mr Friend might be saying and doing.
But then it is just one of those rumors.
JMHO
Which party’s ticket is Mr. Friend going to run on?
Oh yeah
Well….he is a member of the Democratic party, but this is Evansville isn’t it. 🙂
JMHO
Does his party selection make any diference?
I don’t think so.
When I was a kid my Dad told me that a fish rots from the head to the tail. Evansville’s tail is starting to stink. Stick a fork in that rotten corpse, it’s done!
Your dad gave good advice. Here is some more. “the only way to kill a poisonous snake without getting bitten is to hit it right on the head. If you hit anywhere else you will get bitten.”
“IS IT TRUE
that the moral of employees working in the Building Commission and Codes and Enforcement departments are rock bottom.”
The word you are looking for is MORALE!
I heard the opposite of what I am reading here regarding the DMD. That is when Tom Barnett was in charge of the Department, he had the whole department in upheaval?!? And that he had several people working on the same project (outside the scope of their skill sets) and causing nothing but confusion. That Barnett was the problem and not the solution. And his replacement Phillip Hooper, has made changes that has realigned the departments employees with their respective skill sets with the jobs that need to be performed.
Good Riddance to Barnett!
