We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE the “Mayors Reopen Evansville Task Force” has officially begun the monumental task of coordinating the opening of select businesses in the Evansville area?  …we understand that they are taking on an unpredictable and deadly enemy?…we wish them luck and our prayers are with them? …we hope that they know what the heck they are doing because the future of many businesses and people’s lives are now in their hands?
IS IT TRUE our mission to continue to call out the failure of our elected officials for choosing fun and games over substance, exposed idiocy and self-serving squandering of taxpayer dollars in search of votes, take the powers to task every time they do something underhanded to pick the taxpayer’s pockets shall continue?…we also pledge to continue to point to things like drug addiction in the parks, political patronage, an escalating murder rate, and the neglect of public infrastructure for golden shovel photo ops?
IS IT TRUE over the years the media and governmental watchdogs groups have expressed concerns that amendments made to casino gaming laws were seemingly motivated by corporations or individuals giving donations to the right political person or political group? …it’s time for one of these governmental watchdog groups to become more aggressive and demand that the proper law enforcement authorities look into any possible unethical wrongdoing in anyone in elected office or the gaming business?
IS IT TRUE a year and a half ago the Indy Star reported that the following Indiana Casino owners contributed the following amounts of money to the National Republican Governors Association in 2018?  …that Spectacle Entertainment (Majestic Star 1 and 11) donated $496,486? …Penn National-Ameristar, Hollywood Casino gave $175,000? …that Caesars-Horseshoe So Indiana, Harrah’s, Indiana Grand, Hoosier Park, and Horseshoe Hammond contributed $60,000?  …Boyd Gaming-Blue Chip, Belterra give $25,000?  …the IRS records showed that the National Republican Governor Association didn’t receive any political donations from the Eldorado Resorts, Tropicana Evansville, or French Lick Casino owners in 2018?  …we wonder if things have changed concerning the Indiana Gaming industry hierarchy donating large amounts of money to influential politicians in Indiana?
IS IT TRUE according to the Indy Star that “Indiana law bans casino license holders from donating directly to Indiana candidates but does not prohibit contributions to national organizations?  …that  political contributions from casino interests to organizations like the Republican Governor’s Association have long drawn the ire of government accountability groups, which see them as a way to skirt Indiana’s prohibition on campaign donations from casino interests?”
IS IT TRUE we been told that the personal and political conflicts between Governor Holcomb and Attorney General Curtis Hill are going to be enhanced during the next several months?  …in fact, we have been told if Mr. Hill has information that could be politically embarrassing or damaging to the Governor he just might leak it to a few political or media friends just before the election?
IS IT TRUE that the current City Controller seemingly feels just because former City Councils and Mayors of Evansville exhibited some deficit spending habits it’s ok for the Winnecke Administration to do similar?
IS IT TRUE that former Evansville Mayors Jonathon Weinzapfel and Frank McDonald Jr. not only lived within their budget restraints and when they left office they had impressive cash balances and “Rainey Day” funds?
IS IT TRUE isn’t it the responsibility of a City Controller to make sure that the Mayor and City Council members live within the budget restraints?  …we can guarantee that the City Controllers that worked for Mayors Jonathon Wienzapfel and Frank McDonald Jr. made sure that the City lived within their budget restraints?
IS IT TRUE, that in accordance with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Financial Industrial Regulatory Authority (Finra) all cities and towns with populations of greater than 100,000 will be required to report their financial status by using the accrual method of accounting for the year ending December 31, 2019? …that Indianapolis, Ft. Wayne, and South Bend have been using the accrual accounting method for many years? …over the years Evansville has been receiving adverse opinions from the SBOA in regards to overdrawn accounts? …that past financial reports by the City weren’t compiled by using the accrual method of accounting?  …we are pleased to announce that the Winnecke Administration is now forced by the State Board Of Accounts to report all their unrecorded liabilities including leases that the Bond rating of the City will be greatly affected?
IS IT TRUE  its incumbent upon us to remind members of our City and County officials that  Revenue Bonds are rated based on the revenue they generate to make principal and interest payments and based on any assets pledged to secure the bonds? … Corporations are judged on their ability to generate earnings, while a municipality may issue a bond backed by fees from a toll road or a sports venue?  …a state or local municipality may also issue a general obligation bond, which is backed by the taxing power of the municipality? …the more revenue a bond can generate, the higher its credit rating?
IS IT TRUE we wish that our locally elected officials, business leaders of this region, patriots, and Veterans groups would feel similar about the Veterans Memorial Coliseum as they do the LST?  …its time that the citizens of this community demand that the Veterans Memorial Coliseum receive the same media attention and financial support as the LST does? …its time that the community brings back the “Veterans Memorial Coliseum”  to its original grandeur?
IS IT TRUE we are pleased that Structure Point Engineering was recently selected to do the Design and Engineering work for the new jail in Gibson County?

IS IT TRUE that the Evansville Region Representative of the United States Senator Mike Braun is doing a credible job?  …Steven W. Hammer is working day and night carrying the message that the United States Senator from Indiana Mike Braun is a man of his word by following through with his campaign promises?  …we give five (5) cheers to Steve Hammer for doing a credible job for the United States Senator Mike Braun?

IS IT TRUE when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny!  When the Government fears the people we have Liberty?
