IS IT TRUE that Mayoral candidate Gail Riecken had a political fund raiser last Friday? …we saw many people at this event who have not been very active in the party over the last several years? …were pleased to see the Vanderburgh County Sheriff at this event? …We overheard Sheriff Wedding proudly stating his strong support for Mrs. Riecken and his willingness to help in any manner possible?
IS IT TRUE that the master storm sewer plan has 23 projects costing nearly $160 million and Mayor Winnecke has not started one of these projects yet? …if this information is correct, then it is truly a sad that Mayor Winnecke decided to bypass these projects? Â … these projects affect the overall public health of the people of this community? …we wonder why the mainstream media hasn’t reported this situation? Â …with all of the recent storms and flooding, these projects (funded projects) are badly needed?
IS IT TRUE an empty building located on East Florida and Heidelbach was donated to Jacobsville Join In (A city subsided non-profit agency)? …this agency wants to use this vacant commercial building as a community meeting place? …we wonder whats wrong with using their North Main offices for such meetings? …how much will the taxpayers shell out to bring this building up to city codes? …how much will the taxpayers spend to remodel this building to make it ready to use for community meetings? Â …how much will it cost the taxpayers per year for utilities and upkeep?
IS IT TRUE that “Jacobsville Join In” is starting a fund raising campaign called “TWO CENTS” campaign that will help to support the newly donated building costs? …this organization suggests that some of this money can be used to paint a mural on the exterior of the building? …we wonder how an exterior mural is going to enhance the quality of life the disadvantage and down trodden people of the Jacobville community? …we also wonder how this mural is going to combat neighborhood crime in that area?
IS IT TRUEÂ ECHO HOUSING CORP Â recently paid a sizable sum of money to an out of town artist to paint a large mural on the side of a building located behind McDonalds on North Main? …we wonder how this mural enhances the quality of life and combats crime in the JACOBSVILLE neighborhoods so far? …if you want to get a first-hand view of how our tax dollars are spent on worthless pork barrel projects, Â please drive by McDonalds on North Main and look at the back side and view this alleged weapon on fighting crime and promoting economic development in the JACOBSVILLE area? …please take a picture and send it to all your friends because a picture is worth a thousand words?
IS IT TRUE we wonder why ECHO Housing Corporation spent $31,650 of the Jacobsville Gateway TIF money to paint an abstract mural on the side of storage building behind McDonalds Restaurant?  …this $31,650 would had better spent by ECHO Housing Corporation on additional opportunities for the disadvantaged of Jacobsville area?
IS IT TRUE we have attached a link of the Evansville Redevelopment Commission Grant Agreement resolution that gave ECHO Housing Corporation a $31,650 grant for this mural?  …we wonder why the ERC didn’t put in this resolution that the $31,650 grant was for an exterior mural?  …we also wonder who owns the building that the mural was painted on?
IS IT TRUE we urge you to pay special attention to the mission statement in this Grant Agreement that these funds should be used for the public good?  …we urge you to look at how the adoption vote was recorded on this agreement?

They have been charging the customers on their bills for this mandate for a year where is that money?
There are several local artists who do great murals and need the work. I do not approve of this use of our tax dollars but they could have at least given some local artists the work.
In general what are the bounderies of Jacobsville? I don’t know why when things are dire, people want to put icing on a dog rocket and call it desert.
Jacksonville boundaries: Lloyd to Diamond, First Ave to Governor or Garvin according to UNOE.
Lipstick on a Pig… Typical of the way these people think.
Murals= downtown cronies fuel, that’s all there is to it. really nothing of any valuation to the present revenue base at all.

Just what was the chain of ownership on this property? Did Evan Beck’s business, Woodward Realty, make any money from this deal? Was that money taxpayer money? Where does ECHO get its funding?
Just a few questions you may want to consider.
I’ve been a member of the Jacobsville Community for almost 12 years, and I’m excited to see JJI trying to make a difference in the community. I think the community center is a great idea, the way the current JJI office is broken up it is difficult to get more than just a few people together for any kind of meeting. The problem I am having is that no amount of murals are going to help put this community back on track, no matter how much they spend. I’m afraid the majority of Jacobsville residents have been in survival mode, or maybe I just don’t care mode for so long it is going to take a lot to change that mindset. As a community member I hope the change comes sooner rather than later. I hope the community center can help start that change but time will tell.
Where’s a story on the so far failed United airlines service to EVV? Is it true that the on time rate is less than 40%? That cancellations and delays of over an hour is more than a third of the flights? Things like these keep people heading to SDF, STL, BNA, and IND?
50% canceled already today. This isn’t service. This is a joke.
Been there done that. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them pull out.
Can they just up and quit the service to Chicago, or did they sign a contract for a certain amount of time?
I’m interested if that grant money was spent on this. They should have had service to IAH too. I have flown twice. Outbound delayed 2.5 hrs. Missed connection had to spend night in Chicago. The return from ord was cancelled, had them put me on to Sdf. Paid $$ for a one way rental. The other time delayed out bound almost missed connect. Return delayed 4 hrs ! The Sdf , STL and bna flights weren’t getting canned as they try to blame atc. An AA didn’t have an issue.
I would like to know if they have no interest in flying into and out of EVV to ORD because the flights aren’t full. If nothing else, cut back to 1 flight daily. We experienced the same delays and cancellations 6/12 thru 6/16. The rep asked if I really needed to be back on the day I had booked after they cancelled our flight, saying it was Air Traffic Control also. She thought flying to the nearest airport would also be fine. As in your case, another airline, Delta, didn’t seem to have a problem.
They should cut back to one or two ord flights and add two IAH. The problem is express jet wit those ratty erj 135. So ma y mechanicals plus mechanicals elsewhere causing “crew” issues. Plus reroute internally would be easier with two hubs served. Take a hint from delta , who’s raking in the $$$
They pull out every day.
I’m shocked that a group can’t come up with a better idea to improve the lives of a community than to paint a mural on a building.
This reminds me of a group of politicos from Evansville went to Owensboro a couple years ago to meet with the organizers of Downtown After Sundown bring something similar to Evansville. One of the leaders later came to Evansville to see what the group had put together. They were shocked to see that the Evansville leaders had basically put on a bierstube.
Murals before sewers!
Questionable use of funds. Looks like a little more should be spent on code enforcement to improve the lives of the Jacksonville residents. Was at he Jacksonville park for the ribbon cutting on the $150,000 boy scout playground project and could not believe how the city allows property owners to ruin their own neighborhoods. Main street had more weed growing along it than a country road. Check out the picture of the 4ft Canadian thistle blocking the sidewalk at main and Florida at letsfixthat.us
The airport management just doesn’t get it. The main thing that matters are the fares and the direct flights. They should be promoting these routes and encouraging the carriers to offer reduced fares. The current ads do nothing to get at the heart of the problems. We have to get reduced fares. The biggest mistake the Air Board made in the past 10 years is when they turned away Allegiant Airlines and let them open in Owensboro. They wanted to come here, but no, no…we didn’t want a reduced fare airline. Now look, Owensboro has overflow crowds on the flight to Orlando. We need to think competitively and get lean and mean.
Just for the hell of it who did or should I say was the other person that bad that this goofball you people elected. Hey I was at a local coffe shop and heard that the fence around that hole downtown for The Winkie Motel is costing 900.oo bucks amonth. anyone know of this and why its just an empty lot
It’s to protect that bulldozer in case they have to resort to rolling it in again for a good parking.
