IS IT TRUE June 20, 2016

IS IT TRUE we had a problem with the posting of the June 17, 2016 IS IT TRUE?  …are  reposting some of the June 17, 2016 IIT for you’re reading pleasure?

IS IT TRUE Indiana recently  passed new regulations for the liquid used in a smoking alternative known as vaping,?  …local businessman John McCullough  Jr spent about $80,000  to make sure his company would comply with the new State law?  … it now looks like many  e-liquid producers are now being shut out in doing business in Indiana because of an alleged backroom political deal that effectively gives the sole rights to distributed e-liquid to a politically connected security firm located in Lafayette?  …we wonder why our local State Senators and State Representatives allow this law be approved without proper research and debate?

IS IT TRUE as week the newly elected President of IVY TECH Dr. Sue Ellsperman visited the Southwest campus in Evansville? …we are pleased that Dr. Ellsperman understands there is a public misunderstanding about why community colleges exists, and she said she wants to change it? …we recommend that she  addresses the staffing,  marketing,  political and communications problems at IVY TECH system wide? …if anyone can lead IVY TECH in the right direction Dr. Sue Ellsperman is the person to do it?

IS IT TRUE we hear that Vanderburgh County GOP Chairmen Wayne Parke had meetings with a few GOP precinct committeemen that supported Sean Selby for County Commissioner in the political caucus? …we hope that Mr. Parke didn’t meet with the Sean Selby supporters in order to take them to task for supporting Mr. Selby In last month’s political caucus? … we are waiting to see if Mr. Parke will publicly announce that he supports Sean Selby for Vanderburgh County Commissioner in the upcoming November 8, 2016 General election?

IS IT TRUE as week the proprietor of the controversial “bikini bar” proposed for 825 S. Green River Rd. withdrew his request for a zoning variance that would allow him to move forward with his plan? … that a group of well-organized remonstrance attended this meeting? …that the bar owner’s ex-wife testified that they wanted scantily-clad servers and entertainers because they would attract a “higher type” clientele than they currently have? …that the remonstrance should  keep an eye open for another interesting proposal  presented by the current bar owners?

IS IT TRUE we are extremely pleased that the City of Evansville have decided to build new glass enclosed shelters at select bus stops throughout the City? …the new bus stop shelters will protect our disadvantaged citizens of our community during bad weather? …we hope that the Mayor will find the money to continue building additional shelters because it’s a worthy public works project?  …we hope that the Mayor will start ridding of the unsightly park type benches that are presently located at bus stops? …we also feel that advertising displayed on these benches are also unattractive?

IS IT TRUE last week a Graduation Ceremony for 10 outstanding Evansville Firefighting recruits was held? … …we would like to congratulate graduates-Matthew Alexander, Joshua Petrig, Jamie Phillips, Colton Blanchard, Brian Dispense, Michael Gleeman, Ian Pate, Erik Schlub, Brian Richardt and Derek Rollins? . ..we would also like to give special thanks to the Evansville Fire Chief Mike Connelly for turning the Evansville Fire department into a progressive firefighting unit?

IS IT TRUE EVSC deserves kudos for its Health Sciences Institute career exploration program? …we believe all of our students could benefit from an “up close” look at a variety of occupations, from fast food to brain surgery?… a real look at a future with and without at least technical education may open a few young folks’ eyes?

Todays “READERS POLL” question is: Do you feel that it is time for the City  to do away with the advertising on bus stop benches because its unattractive?

  1. In today’s Evansville Courier&Press legal section (6-20-16) we see filings by the Evansville Department of Metropolitan Development for quiet title to some properties. The attorney of record for the Plaintiff, the DMD, is Osman I. Mufti of the law firm Ziemer, Stayman, Weiztel, & Shoulders.

Isn’t it about time for an FOIA request inquiring about the total amount of legal fees being charged for on of the “quiet title” actions?

    • Excellent point PRESSANYKEY…..this is a perfect example of “ever-grinding fee generation INDUSTRY infrastructure” (legal fees, title work, remediation, demolition, consulting, appraisals, real estate fees and commissions, contract origination, closings, dispute resolution, on and on) surrounding the THOUSANDS and THOUSANDS of Evansville Brownfield Corporation land bank deals and agreements on any evansville land bank condemned properties being cleared for sale and re-entry onto the market.
It is BIG business. It happens at the cross-section of the DMD, each of the City Council Ward Members who have properties in their Ward and City Hall………and is it happening in a closed-door, off the books, closed record land banks right under everyone’s nose.
The CCO continues to ignore this, or at best, sprinkles some surface drops from time to time. I don’t know why. It is the single most fertile ground for uprooting corruption in the City. But the City County Observer ignores it.

      • WRONG!:

The CCO and George Lumley have made the only serious inquiries into this robbing of the public treasury.

        • Ugh.
Pressanykey….You are THAT desperate for friends that you have to hang a pork chop around your neck? Of course the CCO isn’t covering this.
I agree George has tried. And the CCO has discussed how George has tried, and published what George has found, and wrote what George has said,
But the City County Observer, which is ostensibly doing the investigative work the Courier & Press is not willing to do……is NOT doing any digging into any potential land bank corruption.
This issue is a PERFECT issue for the CCO to make a clear distinction between it and the C&P, but it will not do it.
I don’t know why……but the CCO is not covering the land bank issue any more……and hasn’t for some time.

    • If the Pamela Gellar story is true, (big “if”) it is horrible. It does not reflect on all Muslims any more than the story that broke over the weekend about the Amish couple who gave their daughter to a Pennsylvania man in exchange for helping them out of a financial bind reflects on all Amish.

You can go “all in for Trump” all you want, but he isn’t going to be president.

      • One thing about Trump, if he is going to pay you, you will have to perform. Unlike a certain political party who just can not seem to ever stop preaching about how they will give you something for nothing. Anyone with half a brain knows that recipe does not and can not work for our Country.

        • So, you object to the huge amounts of corporate welfare passed out to the 1% by the GOP? We have something in common.

          • And who, pray tell, bailed out GM?
Democrats and Republicans alike pass, put corporate welfare.

          • …..PoseyCountyD, if you want to BITCH about bailouts, the GM bailout was an astounding success, paying dividends far beyond the dollars that were eventually not paid back. (And that number is small and practically infinitesimal to the bailout of the Wall St. banks.)
BUT…is your comment a serious one? (Cause I don’t think it is Sir.)
Cause if you ARE serious about this…….you will express your full-throated support for DODD-FRANK which is designed to prevent the “too big to fail” thing from ever happening.
But your comment……is not likely serious. (thin, too thin)

          • The POINT is all political parties pass out corporate welfare.
And GM should have been allowed to fail given how they compensated their execs.

          • Well first of all the corporate welfare is passed out by the Congress, not republicans alone. And YES I object to it. You really have not ever read or understood anything I have ever posted, have you?

          • Well. Let’s be clear. The Congress is the GOP, so Pressanykey, you’re saying you agree with LKB’s words.

Of course all of this is about to change.
With Trump’s continued brilliant general election campaign, after the fall’s general election, Donald Trump will have successfully turned:
            1. The White House
            2. The Senate
            3. The House of Representatives and
            4. The Supreme Court
……..ALL of them, Democratic Party controlled.
Amazingly…..PAK is helping that effort here every day.

  2. Trump continues to have problems and turmoil surrounding him today.
    Surprise, surprise.

      • If you are going to cherry pick a poll, then I guess I will too. The SurveyUSA poll has Trump and Hillary tied at 35% each, and it is arguably the most respected poll out there.

We can kick this poll crap back and forth from now until the election in November, when the only poll that COUNTS takes place.

        • …….AND we will. You’re right about THAT one.
          Know something Pressanykey?
You like to say Trump got 13 million votes in the Primaries.
(Every old white guy racist in America)

To win the General Election, it’s gonna take around 65 million votes.
Where in America is Trump gonna find those additional 52 million votes? Where?

          • One more thing Pressanykey…….
….why is Donald Trump sending out desperate emails asking for fans to send the campaign money?

          • The only “desperate” things around here are your posts. You have everything riding on being able to take Trump down either before or during the convention. I have my doubts if your establishment crones pack what it takes to get that job done this year, but if it happens, you will have destroyed the republican party in the process, and will never win another election. A new party will rise up to replace the corrupted old guard.
