IS IT TRUE DECEMBER 23 and 24, 2015

17

IS IT TRUE we hear it’s possible that City Council President elect Missy Mosby could declare “Executive Privileged” so she can personally appoint the next City Council attorney without Council members approval?

IS IT TRUE the Indiana State Board of Accounts audit of the City of Evansville for 2014 is to be made public next month? …We wonder what it will have to say about the DMD administered Federal grants?

IS IT TRUE the $3,735.204.00 Federal National Stimulus Program (NSP 1) was to be concluded during the 2014 City of Evansville audit period?

IS IT TRUE the Director of Metropolitan Development stated the NSP 1 Grant was ended in 2014, but money was left over and was going to be spent in 2015?  ….we wonder what kind of a grant ends but you spend the grant money in a later year?

IS IT TRUE we hear that the NSP1 grant administered by DMD was plagued with problems? … houses built,  could not be sold?  ..that houses remodeled exceeded budgets by multiples?

IS IT TRUE the NSP 1 grant administered by DMD is still not closed out?  … Evansville Brownfields failed to develop properties?  …that a bailout for Evansville Brownsfield Corporation is being proposed under the guise of funding a land bank?

IS IT TRUE the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development published a production report on NSP 1 Grant status in May of this year? …that Evansville rated 60 percent completed and 40 percent unaccomplished after all the million of dollars of hard earned tax dollars was spent?

IS IT TRUE that DMD purchased the vacant and dilapidated CVS building located at 800 North Main Street? … DMD paid a whooping $561,750.00 for this property and the original plans were to convert this building into Offices and a Community Center for Echo Housing?  …we now hear that DMD donated this half of million dollar plus building to Echo Housing who now have plans to lease it to another not-for-profit to train Service Dogs for our Wounded Warriors?

IS IT TRUE it seems like none of the above statements concerning the City of Evansville DMD Department participation in the Federal National Stimulus Program (NSP 1) is a concern of the DMD Director Kelly Coures?  …last week DMD Director Kelly Coures was on local T V telling us what an outstanding job he is doing in administering the “Blighted Property” money he receives from the Feds?  …all we can say is “really”?

  1. Coures is trying to replace Schaeffer as the worst public image of the city. I’d like to know what they “have” on the powers that be. Mosby vs McClintock next election, poke my eyes out I’ve seen it all.

  2. Evansville is full of chaos and we deserve it because of the last two asswipes we have elected for mayor and numerous city council members

    • We did also manage to drive out the most qualified and diligent Council members while keeping the worst of the bad! The karma being accumulated by the voters of this city will be something to behold. I expect we will get the first of many shipments of karma soon.

  3. Looking at that $3,750,000 federal grant – It was termed “Disaster Recovery”. Looks like it was supposed to help with the housing crisis. Did Evansville use it to preserve houses in the Arts District. I see records that the house at 807 E Chandler was remodeled at a cost to taxpayers approaching $500,000 and sold for around $100,000. This is one of the ten rehabs that were supposed to be completed along with 136 demolitions. They did about half the demolitions. That money would have built a lot of Habitat Homes! Did they remodel other mansions and give them away? Any one know the addresses? Send Information to geolumley@yahoo.com and I will look into it.

    • 807 E. Chandler

      1. US Bank (Owensboro, KY) held mortgage for property.

      2. Sold to HUD (Indianapolis, IN) for $81,800.00

      3. HUD sold to Evansville DMD for $1.00

      4. DMD sold to HOPE of Evansville for $0.00

      5. Hope sold to Mr. Jeremy L. Head for $125,000.00

      * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I do not have any information as to how much in the way of funds either Evansville DMD or Hope of Evansville put into the property. That information is necessary to complete this picture.

  4. ‘… that City Council President elect Missy Mosby …’

Could we be seeing a glimmer of hope here? Maybe we do have to hit rock bottom before the healing can begin.

    • That truly sounds like rock bottom until you substitute “Jonathon Weaver” for “Missy Mosby.”

  5. E-ville, Indiana , or—Evil-l, Indiana,—- which is the commonly called name’s correct spelling?
    My auto correct cannot decide.
Maybe the City Council and the Winnecke Crowd should clear this issue up.

    • It might be best to just change it to SNEGALville and thus avoid any confusion.

  6. Our local, so called, political cartoonist James MacLeod never ceases to amaze me. It seems, on this Christmas eve day, that what Mr. MacLeod finds significant to “celebrate” is the State of Indiana returning $42. million of the taxpayer’s money to the area in the form of something called a Regional Cities grant.

“A merry Christmas, Uncle Ebenezer! God save you.”

  7. I just heard that Missy is passing out presents and Rob Faulkner didn’t get one. She is giving the job as City Council lawyer to a guy from Newburgh. They’re giving him a substitute just in case he can’t be at the meeting. That isn’t Faulkner either. Faulkner messed the democrats up to make Winnekey and Mosby happy and they’re giving him what he deserves.

    • Karma? Democrat President Mosby of City Council picks a Republican former Vectren attorney to represent them over the Democrat Chairman. It just shows the Vanderburgh County Democrat Party imploded, losing its political soul and any unity of purpose, when they back-stabbed Rick Davis.

  8. She might be “privileged” but I believe the term is “Executive Privilege”.
