IS IT TRUE? August 11, 2011
IS IT TRUE that the City County Observer is continuing to experience a large increase in traffic in August as compared to July?…that the size of this growth from an average pageviews per day perspective is 62.3%?…that the lead that the CCO has on the Courier Press using the metric of total time online has expanded to 54% since passing them for the first time in the July 4th weekend?…that every other online news website is running a very distant 3rd and higher?
IS IT TRUE that Steve Schaefer, the former Vice President for Public Policy at the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana has already landed on his feet?…that Mr. Schaefer has joined the staff of 8th District Congressman Larry Bucshon?…that Mr. Schaefer will be the newly created director of special projects?…that we are impressed that he was able to find a job so quickly in such a poor economy and are eagerly anticipating learning more about what his special projects shall be?
IS IT TRUE that Democratic candidate for Mayor of Evansville was spending time yesterday adding some details to his Parks plan to the Evansville Area Trails Coalition?…that one of the dire statistics regarding the City of Evansville Parks is that the number of crimes reported has increased by 634% since the Weinzapfel Administration eliminated the Park Rangers to save on short term cash flow?…that this number is alarming as it is an indicator of crimes migrating to our parks?…that there is plenty of evidence to support that drug trafficking and prostitution have set up shop in our city parks since the Park Rangers were relieved of their duties?…that eliminating the Park Rangers may have been penny wise but it was pound foolish?…that hiring some Park Rangers will not automatically set the crime clock back by 7 years?…that the crime operations in our parks will not go quietly and that police backup will be needed on a regular basis to chip away at this problem?…that a hole that took 7 years to dig may take 7 years to fill?…that if that is the case that in the year 2018 the parks of Evansville will be back to where they were in 2004 when the PENNY WISE BUT POUND FOOLISH decision to eliminate the Park Rangers started this decline to “Fort Apache the Bronx†conditions?
IS IT TRUE that the City Administration is now throwing out the number of $500,000 to demolish Roberts Stadium?…that they have no quotes?…that last month they were floating the trial balloon that demolition would be done free for the materials?…that last fall they had budgeted $2 Million in the ballfields proposal to tear down Roberts?…that it is beginning to seem like the cost estimates for this sort of project just get pulled out of thin air whenever a microphone is turned on?…that when people of authority have such a range of estimates with no quote at all it does not lend itself to building confidence in leadership?…that the City of Evansville administration looks more like the sandbox in the park of a kindergarten class than a professional organization when numbers just get fabricated to suit today’s audience?…that we wonder if the estimates to fix the roof leaks, the bathrooms, the water fountains, and other deficiencies in Roberts Stadium are just as farcical as the portfolio of random numbers that the City Administration has attributed to a demolition estimate?
CCO: very sorry to hear about the size of your growth. Be optimistic, there are many talented surgeons in the area, you will be as-good-as-new soon !!
Is it true that the Democrat candidate for mayor is spending time compiling a defense of his sophmoric parks plan rather than moving forward with progressive ideas for job creation and economic development? Is it true that he spent most of his time with the Trails Coalition enumerating his short political career as Betty Knight Smith’s sidekick and his own 2 year career as County Tax Collector? Is it true he included in his resume to the Trails Coalition his career accomplishments as a two-season bush league softball player and volleyball enthusiast? That he presented no really novel ideas regarding the expansion of trails, especially not out into the rural areas as he spent even more time defending his position against consolidation?
Is it true that the Democrat candidate for mayor’s meeting with the Trails Coalition came off as a political meet and greet arranged between his newspaper cohort, Roberta Heiman, and the former cub reporter from the Henderson Gleener? Is it true, we wonder, whether the Democrat candidate for mayor mentioned his stellar record as self-appointed evangalist and Don Quixote wannabe who has manufactured transgressions against the Great Rick by nearly every Democrat office holder and activist in the party?
Is it true that one of the Democrat candidate for mayor’s latest threats was made against an elected office holder who committed the apparent cardinal sin of “liking” a casual and non political comment made on the Republican candidate for mayor’s personal facebook wall? That the Democrat candidate for mayor telephoned the elected office holder and told her she had better watch what she does, because she has to run for reelection in 2012? And the Democrat candidate for mayor has the ability “to take her out too” apparently referring to his “taking out” of Dave Mosby and BJ Watts, two Democrat leaders with whom this particular elected office holder has a close, long term personal relationship?
A political candidate had a political meet and greet? Oh my!
I can’t really side with you in the first half of your post. Both candidates are going to be having a similar meeting and probably saying the same generic words about improving our parks. It’s not a dire issue, but it is important, and both candidates will be addressing it.
Your last paragraph is quite interesting. I can understand his need to keep the Democratic party behind him, but if what you say is true, it seems like quite the overreaction for a facebook “like”. I assume Connie Robinson is the office holder in question? There is likely more behind that story.
No, Connie Robinson is running this year, not in 2012. And Connie’s transgression against the Great Rick was not siding with his choice for 4th Ward leader, for which she was falsely accused by the Great Rick of running for reelection solely to “bilk the city out of health insurance” coverage when in fact Connie has health insurance coverage under he husband’s policy, and the city does not allow double coverage, which as a candidate for mayor, the Great Rick should’ve known.
And the elected office holder whom the Great Rick threatened with a 2012 vendetta, for the cardinal sin of “liking” a comment on a personal Facebook wall, is a county office holder, and since I gave her party and gender, that should narrow it down to two or three individuals.
If you happen to guess the wrong lady, that’s not really a problem, since the Great Rick already launched a vendetta against her too, after incorrectly assuming it was she who recruited Steve Millay to run for county treasurer in 2010. He still will not even speak to her when sitting across the table at a recent political dinner!
Bowhunter you made a great comment on his need to keep the Democratic Party behind him. I know if I was running for office I would want my party behind me. Though I don’t claim to know politics, maybe the way to win is to go out of your way to alienate every elected office holder of your party. If that is the case Davis will soon be President.
I hear Crying towels are on sale at Wal-mart , better hurry, your good ole boys club is going to need them even more come January 2012.
The only sound you will hear Crash is a flock of chickens coming home to roost
I couldn’t agree with you more!
