When our students are in school, parents should be at ease knowing their child is safe.
That’s why Indiana is awarding more than $24 million to nearly 500 schools and districts across the state through the Secured School Safety Grant Program.
The grant program was created by the General Assembly in 2013 in order to help ensure schools are secure and students are safe.
This funding will help schools across Indiana:
- Employ school resource officers or law enforcement officers;
- Purchase security technology and equipment;
- Design and construct additions on school property for security purposes;
- Implement student and parent support plans;
- Conduct site vulnerability assessments;
- Provide firearm training for staff; and/or
- Implement bullying prevention programs.
