8:30 – 10:30 a.m.
Harrison High School Romain Stadium, 211 Fielding Road
Thanks to funding from the Public Education Foundation (PEF), Harrison High School will host a refugee simulation experience for students. Walk a Mile in My Shoes is a refugee camp simulation that will provide students a glimpse into what refugees may experience when fleeing from their homes and living in a refugee camp.
During the simulation, students are divided into small family groups and given a new cultural identity. The small groups travel through the simulation where they will encounter experiences similar to those common in refugee camps.
Volunteers, including nursing students from the University of Evansville, will play different roles at stations along the way to simulate an authentic experience for students.
