A Happy Ending – Brooke and Baby Calvin’s Story
OBGYN and Women’s Services Spotlight
After her doctor noticed signs of pre-eclampsia at her regularly scheduled 32-week OB appointment, Brooke was flown to Ascension St. Vincent Evansville, where she delivered baby Calvin eight weeks early on Feb. 9, 2020. After five weeks in the hospital, Calvin was able to go home! His mom adds, “We are forever grateful for the staff at Ascension St. Vincent that made sure I had a safe delivery and took great care of our baby boy!”
We couldn’t be happier for Brooke and baby Calvin! Thank you to our Hospital for Women & Children staff for providing excellent care.

Rob Wathen and Minhthy Nguyen, Outgoing Board Members
The Foundation would like to wish Rob Wathen and Minhthy Nguyen a very warm send off as outgoing board members of Ascension St. Vincent Evansville Foundation!
Rob Wathen
Rob’s service on the Foundation Board extended from 2001-2006, and again from 2011-2020. As a testament to Rob’s leadership as Chairman of the Foundation’s signature Heritage Open Golf Tournament in 2000 (co-chaired by Debbie Bizal) and 2018 (co-chaired by Shannon Wathen), these events raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for the hospital’s key service areas. Rob and the love of his life, Shannon Wathen, also served as Chairs of the Foundation’s Cornette Ball in 2003, “Napa in November,” which supported St. Mary’s Medical Center’s programs and services. Rob also served for many years on our Heritage Open and Cornette Ball sales committees securing support from corporate and individual sponsors. Rob currently serves as Senior Vice President, Financial Advisor with Wathen Lobel Group Robert W. Baird & Company, Inc.
Minhthy Nguyen
Minhthy served on the Foundation board from 2016-2020. As a board member, he helped the Foundation secure support for our signature Cornette Ball event each year, as well as serving as Eucharistic Minister at the Ball’s annual Mass for event guests. Additionally, Mighty was instrumental in securing an impactful, transformative gift for Ascension St. Vincent’s Neonatal Transport Isolette which provides life-saving care to premature and at-risk babies as they are being transported via ambulance to Ascension St. Vincent. Minhthy currently serves as Senior Vice President, Research and Development of Evolve BioSystems, Inc. in Davis, California.
Thank you, Rob and Minhthy, for your support and years of service on Ascension
St. Vincent Evansville Foundation Board. You will both be missed!
