- ST LOUIS – Haley Woolf belted three home runs and finished with nine runs batted in to lead the University of Evansville softball team to a perfect 4-0 week and was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Monday.
In a week that featured a road win at Indiana State and a 3-game home sweep over Bradley, Woolf was the difference with a stellar offensive showing. The junior accumulated a total of three home runs and nine RBI while slugging 1.333. She added a walk while being hit by two pitches to finish with an on-base percentage of .600. Woolf batted .500 (6-12) in UE’s four games while scoring six times.
The week began with a 1-4 game at Indiana State where UE picked up a 7-5 win in 10 innings. When Evansville returned home, that is when Woolf took it to a new level. A grand slam in the first inning of the opener versus Bradley set the tone. She finished game one with a perfect 3-for-3 effort with two homers and six RBI. Woolf’s third homer of the day in game two helped UE to a 10-4 win; she went 1-3 with a 3-run homer while scoring twice. In Sunday’s 11-1 victory, Woolf was 1-2 with a double, walk and two runs scored.
It is the first MVC Player of the Week honor of her career.
