Gray and Weyer lead UE men in Kentucky

Tyler Gray ranks among the leaders as the University of Evansville men’s golf team completed the opening two rounds of the EKU Intercollegiate at University Club at Arlington.

Gray is in a tie for 6th place with a 2-round total of 139.  He began the day with a 2-under 68 before recording a 71 to rank in the top ten with 18 more holes on tap.

Second for the Purple Aces was Cameron Weyer.  After carding a 75 to start the day, he finished round two with a 74 to check in with a 149 and ranks in a tie for 67th.  One behind him was Matthew Ladd.  His scores finished at 73 and 77 as he completed the day with a 150.

Noah Reese and Spencer Wagner each completed play on Saturday with totals of 153 and are tied for 81st on the leaderboard.

Ball State’s Johnny Watts and Blake Prince of Cleveland State are tied for the lead with scores of 136.  They are just one ahead of a third-place tie.  Tyler Gray is just three strokes off the lead.

In the team standings, Eastern Kentucky leads Ball State by four strokes.  The Colonels finished the opening pair of rounds with a 562 and are four ahead of BSU.  Morehead State and Marshall are tied for third with a 567.

Evansville is 15th in the team standings, six behind Murray State.

Sunday’s action will feature 18 more holes to complete the event.
