Evansville Police K-9 Teams earn top honors at United States Police Canine Association Region 5 Field Trials

Several EPD K-9 Teams took home top honors during last week’s United States Police Canine Association Region 5 Field Trials. The trials consisted of 31 K-9 teams from Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky.

Officer Zach Elfreich and K-9 Axel won the overall “Top Dog” title for the trials.
Officer Nick Henderson and K-9 Qaos were awarded “Top Dog” in Narcotics Detection.

Criminal Apprehension-

Officer Doug Buetel and K-9 Gero were awarded the Region 5 2014 Top patrol Catch of the year for their work in apprehending a car thief.

Officer Jeff Kingery and K-9 Rexo were awarded the Region 5 2014 Narcotics Find of the year for the work in seizing a large amount of crystal meth.

All of the EPD K-9 Patrol Teams received their certifications and are qualified to attend the National Field Trials later this year.
