(WASHINGTON, D.C.) –Congressman Larry Bucshon, M.D. voted on Thursday to rebuke a recent anti-Israel resolution passed by the United Nations Security Council just days before Christmas.

“The UN’s action is an attempt to delegitimize Israel and threatens stability in the region.Unfortunately, the Obama Administration turned its back on America’s strongest ally by abstaining from the vote – a veto by President Obama would have stopped the resolution in its tracks,” said Bucshon. “A peaceful solution can only be achieved through direct, bilateral negotiations, not by directives from the UN. With our vote last night, Congress reaffirms that the United States will not waiver in its support of Israel.”

 H. Res. 11 expresses Congressional disproval of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334.

Immediately after the UN approved the resolution, Bucshon tweeted:

“After today’s anti-Israel actions at the U.N., as well as other actions not in the interests of the U.S., we need to debate our U.N. funding.”
