Criminal Recklessness Smallings

On May 2, around 3:00 a.m., an Evansville Police Officer was working off-duty at 1819 N Fulton Ave. (K.C.’s Corner Pocket) when a large fight broke out in the parking lot as the patrons were leaving.

As the officer was separating the participants of the fight, he hears a gunshot ring out not more than 20 feet from his location. He looked over and observed Anthony Alexander Smallings (32) carrying a handgun.

The officer immediately drew his department issued firearm and began giving Smallings verbal commands to drop his weapon. Smallings complied with the officers commands and was quickly placed into custody without any further incident.

Fortunately, no one was struck with the round fired by Smallings and he was transported to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he was charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, a level 5 felony.
