The COVID-19 Crisis Response Fund of the Greater Evansville Region has awarded $250,000 in allocations to 11 nonprofit agencies addressing community needs related to the novel coronavirus. With six completed rounds of funding combined, the Response Fund has awarded a total of $1,272,424 to over 60 area nonprofits and encourages non-profits to continue applying for funding.Â
The Response Fund announced Round Six disbursements would assist with funding operations, food, early childhood education and child care, as well as financial assistance. Applications from organizations that serve each of the five-county region of the fund, Gibson, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh, and Warrick, were approved.Â
Included in Round Six of allocations, Youth First received $71,000 to put towards extending its remote social work support for 7 weeks beyond the normal end of the school year. With the funds, Youth First will provide social workers to support high-need students in Gibson, Warrick, Vanderburgh, and Posey counties with proactive, remote mentoring and resourcing. Youth First will also partner with the Dream Center, Potter’s Wheel, and other non-profits to offer food, programming, and resources to a broader group of Greater Evansville children over the summer.
As of today, the Response Fund has raised over $5,000,000, which includes a sponsored project of Indiana United Ways, with funding provided by Lilly Endowment Inc. The target for the fund is $6,000,000, but that number will depend on the needs of the community as time goes on.

The Response Fund is also a proud sponsor of the Back-to-Work Recovery childcare pilot program (children 5 -12 years old) beginning July 6 at Crossroads Christian Church for ages 5-9.
