Evansville City Councilman John Friend, CPA and Finance Chairmen has developed a set of procedures for the arena audit and have submitted them to the following his fellow council members for review,
A meeting is scheduled this Friday in the Mayors conference room with City Council Attorney, Scott Danks, Mr. Friend, Council President, Connie Robinson, City Coucilmen At-Large, Dr. Dan Adams, Dave Garrett, CPA, Mayor Winnecke, Chief of Staff, Steve Schaefer, City Controller, Russ Lloyd, Jr., the Mayors attorney, Ted Zimmer. We hear this issue may be lightly discussed before getting final approval from the State Board of Accounts.
However, we hear the main focus of this gathering will be to discuss the proposed $54 million dollar Johnson Control project.

Board of Accounts? I wouldn’t get those idiots involved! Try to hire out this audit with Umbaugh or Harding.
Well-Well- looks like Mr. Friend is about ready to force an extensive and long overdue audit on the the past Mayors pet political project.

Thank you Mr. Friend for pushing for long overdue audits of past, present and proposed city projects.
I very much agree with you that mr friend needs to do something , cept he won’t cause he would be incriminating him self along with other previous city council members ,,,,,remember the saying money talks and bs walks My guess is a whole lot of JW buddy’s got more then 30 pieces of gold and or silver

Looks like we may finally begin to get some answers to city and county construction and consulting contracts because of one hell of an honest political person named John Friend!
John Friend for next Mayor of Evansville!
I’m extremely pleased with Mr. Friend for pushing for this audit.
Went to Christmas party this evening and John Friend was the talk of the party.
Thank you John Friend for protecting the taxpayers of this community.
LET THE AUDIT BEGIN!
HOPE MR. FRIEND WILL CONSIDER RUNNING FOR MAYOR.
Don’t you fools get it? If you find anything, the C&P and 14 won’t report it or they will spin it to not look so bad. JW is king, I’m an accounting Goddess, and Mayor McClintock is JW’s third term.
Remember State Board, if you find anything, we’ll call the Governor’s Office to not get it reported. How dare you call us out on stuff?
Does anybody really think politicians auditing politicians will end with the truth?
IS IT TRUE, the State Examiner of the State Board of Accounts, appointed by the Governor, can NOT be terminated, only after a public hearing for cause. So, if true, how does the Governor control the outcome. Maybe this is why Indiana chose to use the SBOA method of auditing because other states that use the private sector are more likely to be influence on the local basis??
I am more concerned about the six (6) years, 2006-2011, of unaudited contracts between the City of Evansville and SM&G covering all publicly owned entertainment facilities.
Weinzapfel would not even allow a “review” of those contracts. It certainly appears that someone wanted to keep those financial figures away from anyone other than Jonathan Weinzapfel and Jenny Collins!

I had heard the phrase: ” Something is Fishy in Denmark”, at an early age, but having been around the block a few times since, I have concluded,–that who ever coined that phrase, –couldn’t read a Map,–it’s obvious to me now they were refering to Evansville,–Not Denmark!
If friend runs for mayor and wins I am out of Evansville! I will cut all ties and never mention this place again.
Ha! You would be joining about 25,000 other of the best and brightest if you loaded up the truck and hauled ass. Why wait to see if Friend becomes mayor? He couldn’t wreck the place any worse than Weinzapfel and Winnecke have.
