As anticipated the Evansville City Council voted tonight by an 8 – 1 majority to hire the firm of Crowe-Horwath to VET the hotel development agreement that was previously approved by the Evansville Redevelopment Commission and touted by the Winnecke Administration as good to go.
The lone dissenting vote came from Councilman Jonathan Weaver who just last week called for a vote of approval prior to going forward with a Vetting contract.
No time frame was given for the completion of the vetting and no date was set to vote on the agreement. Councilman John Friend stated that some of the information needed to vet the agreement and the developer has not been supplied yet. The next scheduled meeting of the City Council is September 23.
Here I go again. Never thought I would ever blog but look like I’m doing it again. I don’t know how this Weaver guy ever got elected to City Council. He just doesn’t get it. Mr. Friend is totally right to demand that the Developer/Builder of the proposed Convention Hotel should be vetted.
Cheers to the 8 City Council members who voted to have the proposed Convention Hotel project vetted.
You’ve still never “blogged”. “Blog” is short for “web log,” and refers to a personal website that is a running log with the most recent posts on top. This CCO website could arguably be considered a blog, though it’s more accurate to refer to it as a news site.
“Blog” does not mean comments on a website, including this one or the C&P, nor does it refer to every website online. If you want to reference comments or posts made after a story, call them comments, not blogs.
Missy had never heard of vetting until 2 weeks ago and now she’s voting for it? I sure Beaver felt very betrayed.
Weavers probably heard enough about the “eye” lately, to say “I” so fast.
And after the report is issued, we can fund another study to review this report.
This town is composed of too many Obamas, who don’t want to make a decision.
John Friend is an obstructionist of the 1st order. The council is giving him some save face then vote for the project if the supports keep letting the council members know about their support.
There were clearly 6 votes to kill this deal without vetting. Would you prefer to have had a vote last night and seen this thing go down in flames?
