INDIANA- On Tuesday, August 2, Ascension St. Vincent Indiana will celebrate the commissioning of the health system’s first in-house police department. As a part of the ceremony, four officers will be sworn in as Ascension St. Vincent Police Department Officers.

  • Chief Cameron Ellison- Chief for all regions

  • Captain Robert “Andy” Stradling- Central Region, Indianapolis

  • Captain Larry “Tony” Boze- North Region, Anderson and Kokomo

  • Captain Cecil “Chris” Pugh – Southern Region, Evansville

  • Sergeant Eric Hackworth – Southern Region, Evansville

The communities we serve benefit from this police model since having officers dedicated to our hospitals helps us to ensure the safety and security of our patients and associates. Each officer has been trained to work in the unique environment healthcare requires, with special attention paid to working with patient information and those with mental health needs.

Indiana was one of the states to allow hospitals to have their own police departments. In February of 2020, the Ascension St. Vincent Police Department was chartered and recognized by the state. Now we’re excited to celebrate this historic milestone.
