Art in the City is the Arts Council’s annual members-only exhibit, and a chance for local artist members to showcase their current work. Each member receives one free entry into the exhibit.

  • Pre-Registration Deadline: Wednesday, April 15
  • Artwork Drop-off: Monday & Tuesday, April 20 & 21, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Opening Reception: Saturday, May 2, 5:30 – 7 p.m.
  • Exhibit Dates: April 28 – May 21
  • Artwork Pick-up: Friday, May 22, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Brown Bag still going, but no concert this week
There is no Brown Bag on this Wednesday, March 11. Brown Bag returns March 18 with a hands-on printmaking workshop hosted by Signature School. Brown Bag will continue until the end of April. If you know of a performer who would like to be featured at Brown Bag, email Zach Evans at zach.evans@artswin.org

ARTSWIN PROGRAMS
Classics returns with free vibraphone concert
The Arts Council’s Classics Concert Series returns in March with a performance by Greg Jukes.
Jukes creates musical experiences that expand the boundaries of traditional performance. Jukes will bring his talents to First Presbyterian Church in Downtown Evansville on March 13 with a solo vibraphone performance.
The Classics Concert Series is presented by the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana with help from First Presbyterian Church. The series features classical music groups performing in area churches.
All concerts in the series are free and open to the public. Seating may be limited.
The second Classics Concert performance in 2020 will feature the Indiana University African American Choral Ensemble. The group will perform at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 29 at Nazarene Missionary Baptist Church.
RECEPTION THIS WEEKEND
Young at Art exhibit opens this weekend
The Arts Council’s annual Young at Art exhibit opens Saturday, March 14 with a reception from 2:30 – 4 p.m. The Exhibit features 185 pieces made by K-8 students from 21 regional schools. The exhibit runs until March 27.
OTHER PROGRAMS
PG celebrates anniversary with concert
Pionear Group will host a concert this weekend in the Bower Suhrheinrich Foundation Gallery to celebrate the group’s 7th anniversary. Performances will include Kelo Kaddafi, Murphy’s Horizon and Ellipse Elkshow. Doors open at 7 p.m. Music begins at 8 p.m. $5 cover. All ages.
OTHER PROGRAMS
The Guild reading series returns Thursday
The Guild is a monthly reading series on second Thursdays hosted by the Midwest Writers Guild and the Arts Council of Southwestern Indiana. Two features start at 6:30 with open mic to follow at 7:15. Our features for March are novelist Jake dh from Evansville, Indiana and poet Joseph Fulkerson from Owensboro, Kentucky. There will be a cash bar.
