Vanderburgh County Commissioners Announce Grand Opening of Burdette Park’s Oasis Playground

 EVANSVILLE, IN — October 26, 2023 — The Vanderburgh County Commissioners are thrilled to announce the eagerly awaited grand opening of the Oasis Playground at Burdette Park. Media representatives, local families, and community members are warmly invited to join in for an afternoon filled with celebration, play, and food on Friday, October 27, 2023.

Event Highlights: 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony: Witness the official inauguration of the Oasis Playground with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring the Vanderburgh County Commissioners and Burdette Park officials. This momentous occasion celebrates the dedication to accessible, inclusive play spaces for the community. 

Food: Food trucks including Crazy Daisy’s and Taste Buds will be on-site, offering an array of delicious choices for attendees to enjoy. 

Sweet Treats: Satisfy your sweet tooth with a selection of ice cream and candies! 

Halloween Costumes Welcome: In the spirit of the season, Halloween costumes are welcomed and encouraged! 

The Oasis Playground is designed to accommodate children of all abilities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for play and exploration. Funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), this project, with an investment of $112,628 features a state-of-the-art Quaker Mill play system. This fully ADA accessible structure provides wheelchair accessibility and an ADA compliant swing. 

Spanning approximately 170 acres, Burdette Park stands as a premier recreational and educational destination catering to patrons of all age groups. Burdette Park remains committed to enriching our community’s quality of life through ongoing projects.
