I have been in demonstrations protesting the workings of a government, but these “protestors” are protesting our Constitutional election of a president, thus, they are working to overthrow our government, thus, they are treasonous. Tomes’ bill is in response to the treasonous behavior of thugs that endanger good citizens by their disregard for the rights of others, such as free movement on public thorough-fares and use of taxpayer funded agencies such as police protection, EMT services, and fire fighting. When First Amendment Rights are trampled on, I will be in the streets with them. But this is about public safety, not anyone’s rights.

    As far as the “any means necessary” in the bill, you cannot write a law without having an effect in the bill for breaking the law. The bill gives local law enforcement latitude in dealing with the offense which means their response should fit the seriousness of the crime.

  2. Demonstrators do not have the right to block traffic or generally disrupt commerce or other people going about their business.

    The local yellow rag said that no one spoke on behalf of Senator Tomes’ bill. He probably felt that common sense would not require anyone to speak on its merits,as they are self evident. If the Indiana General Assembly needs to hear from supporters of Senator Tomes’ bill in order to pass it, please let us know and we will be there with bells on!

  3. Nothing wrong with protesting. As long as a permit is attained to shut down the road first.

    Other than the mention of emergency services above, the sudden closing of a thoroughfare causes semis to detour onto roads with low underpasses and weight limit bridges causing potential harm to others which no one has the right to cause.
