According to one of our key Republican moles, presidential candidate Mitt Romney will be visiting tomorrow afternoon at 2:30 at the Stepto’s Bar-B-Q Shack on Evansville’s North Side.
Check back as the event nears for mole updates. Any readers who happen to pass by the event are encouraged to post their perspective in the comments.
Great breaking news CCO!
One could post a perspective on the comments ahead of time because such comments, no matter what the party, are very predictable given the short time in which they must be presented.
Wow, the next President of the UNITED STATES eating Bar-B Q in Democratic E-Ville.
How times have changed!
Welcome to Evansville soon to be President elect Romney!
I have to speak my mind here… I don’t see Romney winning this election. I will not activvely campaign against him, but I cannot give him my support either.
I believe the Republican Party is behind the times with its message in this election. It has not capitalized on the surging libertarianism in its ranks, and that is, frankly hurting this lukewarm candidate’s chances. The Party is still too militaristic and hawkish, it is too hit and miss on civil liberties, it is missing the boat on the rising tide of disdain for the War on Drugs. I’ve spoken personally to many Republicans who have mused that actually voting FOR Obama might be a better choice seeing as his second term would be completely lame duck and nothing would get done, which is certainly better than whatever two-faced objective Romney would give us.
Who in their right mind actually TRUSTS this man at this point? You would have to have been in a coma the last 15 years to think Mitt Romney is a trustworthy individual enough to keep any campaign promises, which by the way aren’t even that great to begin with!
So you prefer socialism and totalitarian rule?
Brad,
Many times we do not agree but there are many things here that I do think are true.
A huge point that I believe everyone is missing is that no one party has all the answers. We must look at the individual and as you say trust is important. And I do not trust Mr. Romney at all. I will be voting for Obama because, although no one is perfect and no politician is completely trustworthy, I believe he is more so that Romney. There are other points as well on which I agree with Mr. Obama but everyone has their own views there.
Thank you for “speaking your mind.” It is always the best policy.
Ronald Reagan slid through here years ago-
George Bush ’41 attended a heavy duty fundraiser held by the Chancellor family in their home-Big $$ per guest.
Mitt’s eating at a Bar-B-Q shak? How impressive. Yes, times have changed, but not in the way you think….
Mitt Romney is no more a miracle worker than President Obama-John Kennedy said it best: Ask not what your country can do for YOU, ask what YOU can do for your country. We’ve lost sight of that, and the hand outs are going to dry up and all of the pocket liners will be pointing fingers, casting blame. And in the end we’ll all have to dust off our bottoms and fix what’s wrong, the same way we all caused what is wrong, and we’ll do it together-and it will make us strong again.
I agree. This recession caused by greed on all levels never could have been fixed in 4-6 years. It will take 10-15 minimum and hard work on everyone’s part will be needed. I am so tired of all the blasting of the other party’s views to the exclusion of working TOGETHER to address the problems that must be addressed. Romney is no savior. He in fact has been at the root of some of the problems and he is not truthful. He like every other politician says what is convenient to get the vote. And what is REALLY sad in this election is that big business and the mega-wealthy are buying the candidates and the vote. You are so right Bootsie. There are no easy answers. Just hard, hard work for the common man.
I drove by the Bar-B-Q Shack and saw all the security, film crews, caution tape and barricades.
Figured it was Tom Arnold filming another “Redneck Rehab” show in the fattest city in the world.
I would suggest Mitt stop by the Germania Maennerchor Volksfest for a cold brew and chicken dance. Or should I say Go, Chicken Fat, Go!
Folks, another 4 years of Obama will be the end of us.
Look at the debt.
There’s no other number that matters.
How do you run your own household?
What happens when you are so far under?
Romney may not be the best solution.
But this course can not be maintained.
It’s that simple.
I know you tighty righties would just like to count one side of the ledger but you can’t.
Corporate profits have more than doubled.
The stock market has added more than $14Trillion in market cap
That doesn’t even count the gains in bonds, commodities,
real estate etc.
Consumers have paid back $1T in consumer debt.
National assets are up WAY more than national debt.
Obama has frozen non-defense discretionary, Socical Security and Medicare are defined benefit(I know those are big words but try and understand them anyway) programs that can’t be changed unless congress raises taxes or cut benefit and they’re NOT going to do that.
That leaves defense and taxes and you tighty righties are not going to let him touch either one of those. Soooooo we borrow.
Besides the debt is being carried at about 4% fixed for 30 years. I suppose you recommend cashing in more productive assets to pay off a 4% debt!? You guys are financial wizards!!
Finally treasuries are much higher than a year ago when you teakooks were proclaiming the end of the world and S&P downgraded the debt.
OOOOOPSIE!!
Come on man! Real estate gains in the last four years?? You must be hitting the pipe this morning. And much of that Trillion dollars in consumer debt that was “paid off” was not paid off at all. It was defaulted on. National assets up? No way with the GSA spending it all partying and managing empty buildings.
We will find our what those building are worth if they every get the nerve up to hold an auction. Look what Roberts Stadium turned out to be worth in the free market. Not a damn dime. A bunch of federal buildings are in the same boat, especially public housing structures.
Robert’s wasn’t given a chance in the “free market”. Where have you been? When did they ever try to sell it. I don’t remember getting an email about a real estate auction where no bidders turned up!
If you want to make a valid argument against this dude, remind him that any gains on long term bonds won’t even cover the rate of REAL inflation and that all the ‘gains’ he’s talking about are being propped up by spending, which merely delays the inevitable anguish.
Also, kindly remind him that Democrats didn’t do JACK to cut defense spending (aka offense spending) either when they had full control of the House, Senate and Oval Office. *Cough* LIBYA *Cough*
Ohh and BTW two independent budget watchdog groups looked at Robme’s economic proposals and said that he would run even higher deficits, actually much higher, and rack up even more debt.
Now what??? Obama was born in Kenya!??
I am a Republican and I have to admit, you are absolutely right. Romney’s economic “plan” is basically “full steam ahead”. My Party missed a golden opportunity in Ron Paul to provide a stark contrast to Barack Obama and to turn things around. It’s upsetting to think about the debates that might have been.
Maybe God will take pity on us and Romney will get injured in a skiing accident before the Convention.
