Happy Birthday Indiana

0

Dear Friend,

Today, the Statehouse was filled with hundreds of fourth-grade students commemorating Indiana Statehood Day 2016. These students from all areas of the state visited at a very special time, as Indiana is celebrating its 200th birthday on Sunday, Dec. 11.

Leading up to this weekend’s Bicentennial Celebration, thousands of Hoosiers in each of Indiana’s 92 counties worked hard to showcase all that makes Indiana unique. To all those who contributed and participated, thank you for leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

But we aren’t done celebrating yet.

On Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon, you can help recognize this major historical event at Ignite the Future, which takes place at the Indiana State Fairgrounds inside the Indiana Farmers Coliseum. The two-hour program will include a variety of speakers from diverse faith backgrounds as well as music, dancing and more.

A birthday bash is also being hosted by the Indiana Historical Society at the history center from noon to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. There will be daylong activities, crafts, two special productions, a balloon drop and much more.

Indiana has a lot to celebrate, and I look forward to our promising future.

Happy birthday, Indiana!

State Rep. Wendy McNamara
