Men’s golf takes second at Benbow Invitational

Gray and Knights tie for 6th place

 JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Tyler Gray and Will Knights tied for 6th place as the University of Evansville men’s golf team finished in second place in their first spring tournament – the Don Benbow Invitational – at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club.

As a team, the Purple Aces posted a 587, finishing ten strokes behind winner Florida Atlantic and five ahead of 3rd place Laval.

Leading the way for UE were Knights and Gray, who each finished with totals of 144.  Gray posted a 72 in each round while Knights carded a 71 on Monday before finishing with a 73 on Tuesday.  Firing off the low round of the day for the Aces was Rick Voyvodic.  The senior improved his efforts from Monday by six shots, notching an even 71.  He tied for 11th.

Joseph Addante also saw improvement in round two.  He jumped three strokes to record a 74 to finish the event with a 151, tying for 20th.  Three behind him was Wil Pahud, whose 154 was good for a 23rd-place tie.

Individual Jon Pick finished with a 1-over 72 in the final round to tie for 14th with a final score of 149.  Noah Reese tied for 33rd with a 157 while Austin Carmack saw his score from Monday drop by four strokes as he finished with a 164 following his round of 80.

Medalist went to Laval’s Baptiste Mory, who won by one stroke.  Mory’s 3-under 68 in the final round saw him finish with a 140.

Evansville will stay in Florida where it will begin play in the Butler Intercollegiate tomorrow.
