Happy Holidays from Sadie. Sadie is a 6-year-old spayed DSH. She is also front-declawed. Sadie is quite a love bug and wants nothing more to be cuddled up next to her favorite person. She is used to being an only cat but with some adjustment time, should fit in quite well in a multi-cat household. Gentle children would be best for her. Sadie loves to play with toys and still considers herself to have many kitten like qualities. Her Christmas wish this year is to find a family to love and spoil her. For more information on Sadie and how to make her a member of your family, visit www.vhslifesaver.org or call (812) 426-2563.
I visited VHS this past Saturday, and had the pleasure of finding out that a 13 year old boy adopted an adult Tabby named “Midge”. Nice going, young man !
Surely someone needs an eleventh-hour Christmas Gift for their child ???
There are also gift certificates at VHS if you would like to bring an animal into your home but not at the busy Christmas season. Adopting a pet of any kind is a long term commitment and should not be entered into on a whim.
However if you do plan on adopting any type of pet, please only consider adoption from an rescue organization. Never and I repeat NEVER buy a cat or dog from a pet store because these animals come from horrible mill conditions 99% of the time.
Christmas is the season of love and peace no matter what faith you believe in or even if you have no faith at all. That love must extent to all living creatures. We share this earth together. Please care and be kind.

excellent points, esp. not getting one of these cats or dogs on a whim.
another idea: pay it forward. Go in, and prepay an animal adoption. The person who has just made the long-term commitment to save an animal then “gets their reward” when it’s time for them to write the check for the adoption fee at the counter. . .” it’s already been taken care of”. I’ll bet that might bring a tear or two.
