RECAP OF THE 2015 CITY COUNTY OBSERVER “COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD” WINNERS
The City-County Observer is pleased to announce the first annual awards ceremony for the “Community Service Award”. This award recognizes 8 local individuals, all under 45 years of age, who have given back to our community through enhancing employment opportunities, giving back to charitable organizations, or creating economic growth. Individuals who have earned this recognition have gone above and beyond the call of duty to give back to the Greater Evansville Area. Winners of the award will be recognized on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Tropicana Casino.
Recipients Of This Award Include:
*Amy Rivers-Word the face of Lamasco Bar and Grill, and a driving force behind the Franklin Street Events Association. Her efforts have lead to an overall revitalization of the Franklin Street area and hopes to bring the same vibrant economy back to the historic Haynie’s Corner in Evansville.
*Jacob Pendleton is the current vice president for Dunn Hospitality Group (DHG) where he has served for 8 years. He currently serves as Past President of the Evansville Hotel Association, and during his time with DHG was the general manager for the Hilton Garden Inn and pre-opening manager for the new Courtyard by Marriott.
*Nick Hermann is the prosecuting attorney for Evansville and leads a team of 65 individuals who work on over 40,000 cases every year. This office represents the state of Indiana in felony, misdemeanor, infraction, juvenile, and child support cases. The Vanderburgh County “We Tip” program received that program’s highest honor “the National Safety Award” in 2014, due to the quantity and quality of tips received through the program. Previously Mr. Hermann earned the CCO’s Public Servant of the year award in 2013, and in April of 2015 was awarded the Paul Farmer Humanitarian Award by the Coalition of Inner City Neighborhoods for his work with organizations that mentor youth in our city.
*Stacy McNeill is the Director of Marketing at the Tropicana of Evansville. Her high visibility in the community and her years of experience in the industry make her a key member in many of the areas that drive the Tropicana and the local economy. She currently serves as a board member for the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana, and formerly has served on boards for the Evansville Convention & Visitor’s Bureau, the Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville, and the Freedom Festival Foundation.
*Chase Kelly is the vice president for Corporate Communications for Vectren Corporation. She serves on a number of boards including the Indiana Energy Association, the Edison Electric Institute, and the American Gas Association. Mrs Kelly servs as the president for the board of directors of Youth Resources of Southwest Indiana, and is a volunteer for Lakeview Optimist Club youth basketball and Junior Warriors softball.
*Brian Bennett the entrepreneur behind the Penny Lane Coffeehouses, News 4U, and Tri-state Bride, has made a tremendous impact on the community through his ability to sway opinion and promote his business. He has donated hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars to several different charities and organizations around the Tri-State from cMoe to 911 Gives Hope, the Humane Society, Holly’s House, March of Dimes, and the Haynie’s Corner Arts District Association.
*Joseph Langerak IV, member of both the Indiana and Kentucky Bar Associations, is a recipient of the Young Lawyer of the Year award, and member of the Leadership Evansville Association. As a member of Jackson Kelly PLLC, his concentration is in business and commercial litigation with emphasis on business and commercial transactions, construction matters, real estate, banking and finance, and creditor rights.
*Stephanie Terry who has a Master’s degree in Health Services Administration is the current director of the Koch Family Children’s Museum of Evansville, a Vanderburgh County Council member and on several boards including those for the Commission on homelessness and the Community Corrections Advisory. She is also a member of the YWCA Pay Equity Task Force.
The City-County Observer is proud to recognize these outstanding citizens as people who have shown excellence in developing the community in which they live through their efforts in politics, law, business, and charity.
