Mayor Winnecke Announces New Dollar Genera Store In North Main Street Jacobsville Area
Posted Below Is  Mayor Winnecke’s Statement After E-REP’s Lunch With The Mayor’s Event Announcement:
After months of searching, we’re excited to announce the opening of a new retailer to provide fresh foods and affordable essentials in the Jacobsville food desert.
Dollar General agreed to invest in the roughly 11,000 square feet of ground floor commercial space at Evansville’s newest mixed-use, workforce housing development, The Forge on Main—and add their differentiated DG Market.
This store will provide dairy, fresh meats, fresh fruits and vegetables, frozen and canned vegetables, grains and other foods—in addition to the everyday household items customers trust them to provide. The addition of this store further supports Dollar General’s commitment to offer fresh produce in more than 10,000 total stores.
Pulling this all together has been a collaboration between ECHO Housing, House Investments and, of course, Dollar General.

  1. Elizabeth !!!!! As a 55 + year resident of the North Main Street Jacobsville area , I am very surprised !

    • I hope the same problems that forced the closing of the last grocery store don’t fall on this one. The area definitely needs this store for it’s families.
