   “Wait a sec……let’s wait to criticize before the article is updated with comments from the Administration. For the record, the 2017 audit was a “clean” audit by the SBOA. The comment of “overdrawn accounts” has been included by the SBOA for decades at least since 1997. This Administration has put together a corrective action plan to fix the issue that has been occurring for decades, across multiple Administrations and City Councils.”

2. If I read the Sales History link correctly, the City paid $535,000 to Gene and Charlotte Warren for this building and property 12/9/2014 and it is currenty assessed at $893,100 by the Vanderburgh County Assessor. Of course that assessment means diddly as it is owned by the City (DMD) and generates no property taxes.
   What I don’t understand is why the Sales Disclosure Form filed 12/16/2014 by the Vanderburgh County Assessor indicates an Assessed Valuation of $196,800.

   • In the Dec. 18 meeting, is that Mr. Coures saying they acquired the old CVS building in Dec 2014 essentially for “parking”. The DMD paid $535,000 for extra parking on N. Main St. Unbelievable.

     • It boggles the mind that the ERC bought the old CVS building for $535,000 for parking on N. Main St. This is even more irresponsible than when the ERC paid $600,000+ for the small parking lot next to the McCurdy hotel about 10 years ago.

8. Does the CCO still have the video from when Mr. George Lumley attended the land bank meeting and had to deal with Coures and the smiling Brad Ellsworth? I thought that really showed Kelly’s true colors.

9. City’s Overdrawn Accounts:

   How can the City have overdrawn accounts ? Because they lump about 90 Funds into a single Bank Account, so the City uses the money from other Funds to prop up the overdrawn ones.

   This is weak fiscal management . . . saying that “it’s always been that way” doesn’t make it better or right.
   Reminds me of when the City couldn’t balance it’s checking account and they blamed it on “new software”–for about the next four years.

10. Human Rights Expert: Islamic Persecution of Nigerian Christians ‘Does Not Fit the Narrative’ of ‘Mainstream Media’

    Dede Laugesen, director of Save the Persecuted Christians, told Breitbart News that “anti-Christian bias” across America’s “mainstream media” drives news organizations to downplay the mass murder of Christians by Islamic terrorist groups.

    Laugesen said, “They are now counting 140 people killed in the last five weeks; 120 since February 10th, and many of those are very small children, babies, children younger than 10, and they’re finding them in the bush just slaughtered by machetes.”

    Laugesen described a “narrative” being pushed by “mainstream media” in America:

    People don’t believe that Christians can be persecuted, that they could be slaughtered. Here in the United States, we just have a different sense of who Christians are, but out in the greater world, Christians are viewed as a threat to control and power. What you have operating in Nigeria, which is Africa’s most populous country — 200 million people living there with 50 percent Christians, 50 percent Muslims — you have two of the world’s most dangerous terrorist groups operating — Fulani militants and Boko Haram, now affiliated with ISIS Islamic State in West Africa — and they are driven by radical sharia supremacist ideology, seeking to spread shariah across the entire country of Nigeria.

    “In Christchurch, we’re very upset by the killings that took place there, and we condemn them outright, the killings by an alleged white supremacist,” remarked Laugesen on behalf of her organization. “At the same point in time, the murders of these mostly women and small children in Nigeria — literally slaughtered with machetes while many of them have gone off to church and are on their way to church, or they’re praying, so there’s definitely a religious component here, they’re being slaughtered by sharia supremacists — doesn’t rise to the same level of concern for western media or international concern.”

    Laugesen continued, “Why are we not seeing this as a concern? Because it doesn’t fit the narrative that has been spun on Nigeria, that this is communal or tribal conflict, and that is goes back and forth. The reality is that the victims and the dead and dying are Christians, and those who are perpetrating the violence are Muslims, and that does not fit the narrative that mainstream media would like to tell to people in the United States.”

    • The Glaring Lack Of White Outrage To Global White Supremacy

      It is not lost upon anybody with sense that the mainstream American media is often reticent to describe any mass killing that involves a white male killer a “terror attack” in the immediate aftermath of an attack. Pick a carnage from the past ten years, from Sandy Hook in 2012, to Dylann Roof shooting up Emmanuel AME in 2015, to the New Zealand shooters live stream mass murder in two Muslim Mosques, and right on cue, the “T” word is not rolled out as quickly as it is whenever a brown-skinned or Muslim killer commits mass murder across the globe

      It also is not lost upon those with brains that when white men commit mass murder, that the media and a litany of “legal experts” quickly move to humanize the murderer, suggesting that said killer(s) are “lone wolves” or “mentally ill” as opposed to calling out the evil, depraved heart descriptions that are typically assigned to mass murderers who are brown-skinned or Muslim

      It also is not lost upon hopefully anyone that from the mainstream media, to political leaders worldwide, to our friends and acquaintances on social media, that many whites tend to suggest that peace-loving Muslims across the globe must do more to stop radical jihadists among their faith. This is similar to the same whites calling upon black folks to take responsibility to stop “black on black” crime. But these same white commentators often clam up when white crime raises its ugly head. Where are the calls for peace-loving white folks across the globe to do more to stop radical white Christians who believe that their acts of mass murder are the latest front in a global Christian Crusade against Islam?

      Silent as a tomb. But the reality is that the responsibility to stop murderous white supremacist rests squarely upon white folks across the globe because, like any aberrant behavior, the roots of white supremacy start in the home

      I know full well that most people cringe at the idea of cleaning up their own messes. It is easier for folks to point out the problems with “those people” all the while completely ignoring the problems with “themselves” because no social demographic is immune from this hypocrisy

      But I have observed that many whites range from being willfully ignorant to the terrors that European whites have inflicted across the globe since the Middle Ages, to being wickedly self-righteous where they can condemn Islam as an “evil” or “war-mongering” religion, while totally forgetting that white Christians are responsible for some of the most horrific crimes against humanity

      Lynching/Jim Crow: Not long after the Civil War, so-called white Christians, mostly Southern Baptists, created laws that segregated according to race–laws that white supremacist terrorist New Zealand shooter advocated in “need to return in America” and be replicated across the globe. Thousands of Black men, women, and children were raped, beaten, mutilated, shot, hanged and burned alive from the 1880s until the 1960s. Brutalized, again, by white “Christians”

      The Holocaust: Adolf Hitler and his High Command each, at some point in their lives, were Christians, be it Protestant Lutherans or Roman Catholics. The philosophical underpinning of their hatred toward Jews stemmed (in part) from the demented anti-Semitic trope that Jews were “Christ Killers” because the Sanhedrin and Herod denied the divinity of Jesus, and later offered no opposition to his execution by the Romans. These centuries-old slights manifested themselves in the form of murder of millions of Jews during the Holocaust. Murders committed by Nazi SS personnel who were majority “Christians”

      Historical reminders having been established, when white Christian politicians exclaim in the wake of another white terror attack that “this is not us” I beg to differ because yes, it is y’all, yes, it has been y’all, and yes, it impacts all of us!

      The New Zealand shooter is a terrorist and extremist, but his manifesto reveals a very mainstream bent regarding immigration and the threat of Islam among many whites across the globe. He wrote that he chose New Zealand to show that“ nowhere in the world was safe, the invaders (Muslims) were in all of our lands, even in the remotest areas of the world and that there was nowhere left to go that was safe and free from mass immigration”

      How different is the rhetoric of the New Zealand shooter from Trump, the same one who proudly exclaimed in 2017 that “I, Donald J. Trump, am calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what the Hell is going on.” The same Trump who called Muslim majority African nations “shit-hole countries.” The same Trump who, when white supremacists rallied and caused death and mayhem in Charlottesville, Virginia, blamed the peaceful counter-protesters equally. It was of no surprise to me when reading the manifesto of the New Zealand shooter that he inscribed his fervent support for Trump as a social leader, calling him “a symbol of renewed white identity and common purpose.” Right on cue, only hours after the deadly New Zealand attacks, Trump stated his belief that “white supremacy is not a problem”

      Again, Trump is not alone. Far too many of the right-wing are similarly willfully blind to the fact that white supremacy, both historical and at present, comes in both benign and malignant forms. And while the common truth is that evil can be found in all races and religions, until white people take ownership of and address the historical and present-day horrors of both benign and malignant white supremacy in their homes, churches and schools, the carnage and death tolls will only continue to climb

    A divided U.S. Supreme Court bolstered the government’s power to detain people who are facing deportation because of crimes they committed, siding with the Trump administration in a clash with implications for so-called sanctuary cities.

    The case focused on non-citizen legal residents who serve a criminal sentence, get released and later are arrested by federal immigration agents.

    The 5-4 ruling Tuesday said those people aren’t entitled to a bond hearing, and the possibility of re-release, while the Homeland Security Department presses its case for deportation. The ruling reversed a decision by the San Francisco-based 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

    • Republicans Have Nothing To Offer Except Hate And Fear

      Something is getting more obvious about the Republican Party. Republicans have nothing to offer except hate and fear, and it’s been this way since the 1980’s

      The only two ideas from the GOP are tax cuts (for the wealthy) and deregulation. We are starting an election season and Republicans have nothing to offer the American people. It’s been 40 years, and all they have ever done is cut taxes for the rich and allow Corporations to run roughshod over our environment with deregulation. None of that has ever helped the average working class person here in the United States

      That’s an issue. Reagan came along and destroyed the Labor Unions, and to this day they have not recovered. In doing so, America’s once vibrant middle class was destroyed. That’s not the only thing Reagan did. Aside from having no ideas other than cutting taxes and deregulation, Republicans stay in power through two mechanisms hate and fear. When I think back to Reagan, I remember him telling us we need to be angry. That we needed to hate black people because of their taking all of our tax dollars by being on welfare. He invented the “Welfare Queen”

      Republicans and their media echo chamber Fox’s News have painted a picture of well to do black folks just sitting around collecting unemployment checks and food stamps. It was a lie and a myth then (and still is) but it worked. Just like Trump today Reagan worked his base into a frenzy until they were foaming at the mouth. The Republican base was in fear of their livelihoods. By doing so, Reagan got people to vote Republican even though they had nothing to offer

      What is Trump doing? He’s cutting taxes. He is deregulating, and he’s getting his base to hate a new group of people. The others. Immigrants! They’re the bad guys. First, it was the black people then it was the Muslims. Now, it’s the Hispanics. You can bet your bottom dollar come general election time it will be Socialist and Progressives

      Who’s the next target? Who’s the next group that we need to hate and fear so much that we’re willing to vote for a political party that has had no new ideas since who knows when? Since 1980 we have been told by different Republican leaders which group we need to hate and why we need to vote for Republicans to keep us safe from these groups

    Trump lashed out on Monday against the “fake news media” for allegedly trying to blame him for a white supremacist attack Friday that killed at least 50 people at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand by TwitterTantrum:

    “The Fake News Media is working overtime to blame me for the horrible attack in New Zealand. They will have to work very hard to prove that one. So Ridiculous!”

    The white supremacist shooter explained his thoughts about Trump in his racist, hate-filled manifesto released just after the attack by asking: Were/are you a supporter of Donald Trump?”
