“IS IT TRUE” JANUARY 3, 2019.

7

We hope that today’s “IS IT TRUE” will provoke honest and open dialogue concerning issues that we, as responsible citizens of this community, need to address in a rational and responsible way?

IS IT TRUE that if long-time Republican leader and elected official Cheryl Musgrave could become a spoiler of Rick Davis proportion in the primary if the citizens of registered Republicans of Evansville have an opportunity to choose substance and infrastructure over fun, games, and chicken fat dances? …Mayor Winnecke is a shoo-in if he survives the Republican primary and that is only as sure as a decision by Commissioner Musgrave not to run?

IS IT TRUE that 2019 is a brand new year and it is a year for the citizens of Evansville to have an opportunity to decide how much they like the status quo or if they would like to get that new broom out and sweep the civic center clean? …Mayor Winnecke and the entire cast of council members are up for election and each will get to make the case to keep their jobs? …some will have strong opponents and others will either run unopposed or face the politician’s dream of an unelectable strawman with no money?…the City-County Observer hopes that all nine council seats and the Mayor face strong opponents that offer a different set of ideas so the townsfolk can have an opportunity to think things through?

IS IT TRUE the last thing we want to see is a repeat of the city mayoral election of 2007 when a strawman of epic proportion won the Republican primary and proceeded to hand Jonathan Weinzapfel an 85–15 victory that blew his head up so big that we wondered how he could fit it in a car?…that election cycle even had the late great Democrat strongman Larry Aitken on the evening news expressing his belief that Weinzapfel would be the President of the United States someday?…the next four years were marred with arrogance and refusal to ask for the voters opinions at the ballot box on whether or not to borrow $127 million to construct the downtown arena now called the Ford Center?…four years later the chickens of hubris and arrogance came home to roost when Rick Davis single-handedly ended the political career of Jonathan Weinzapfel and handily defeated Troy Tornatta in a Democrat primary that was just plain ugly?…the Vanderburgh Democrat Party has never been the same since and we truly hope they can muster some decent candidates in 2019?

IS IT TRUE since we posted that Ben Trockman is considering running for the 1st Ward City Council seat we have received several phone calls and e-mails encouraging him to run for this position? …we are also hearing that several Republicans are strongly encouraging him not to run for this position?

IS IT TRUE that the buzz around the Civic Center is if Ben Trockman decides to run for the 1st Ward City Council seat he would win by a comfortable margin?

IS IT TRUE we are told that many people are still upset that a couple of the current members of City Council wasted $200,000 of our tax dollars on the defunct Earthcare Energy project several years ago? …we are told that several candidates running against current City Council members will make the Earthcare vote a campaign issue?

IS IT TRUE we wonder if you are aware that over the years that our City and County elected officials have discreetly increased our property tax assessments which in turn have increased our property taxes?

IS IT TRUE the buzz around the Civic Center is that the political strategy to run four (4) people for City Council that is currently working for the same business will backfire?

IS IT TRUE don’t be surprised that the current and projected water and sewer rates will become a major campaign issue?  …we are told that several candidates running for the Evansville City Council are going to take to task member of the Water and Sewer Board for their exorbitant spending habits?

IS IT TRUE if our water and sewer rates keeping going up the cost of a gallon of water will cost more than a gallon of Jack Daniels?

IS IT TRUE when the people fear the Government we have Tyranny!  When the Government fears the people we have Liberty!

Todays“Readers Poll” question is: How many new members do you think will be on the 2019 City Council?

Discretely? Nothing discrete about it. Property value assessments for the average Tom, Dicj, and Harry homes in Vanderburgh County have gone up outlandishly. There’s no way these homes would sell for their assessed valuation. And what’s funny is about it is the former local print media source (the Courier & Pravda) has been running a series of articles about some top-of-the-line multi-mega $$ homes listed for sale in the Vanderburgh County area and when you look them up on the Assessor’s website you find they’re assessed considerably less (sometimes 50%) of the listed selling price. Why isn’t the Vanderburgh County Assessor doing his job to get these mega-mansions properly assessed to ensure they contribute properly to the tax $ which fund Evansville and Vanderburgh County? How hard could it be? If a realtor has a home listed for $800,000 and it’s only assessed at $250,000 obviously the home owner thinks it’s worth $800,000, no question. Just change the assessment to $800,000 and send them a corrected property tax bill. Unless that property owner is a mover and shaker in Evansville and Vanderburgh County or friend of one of the local “political ins”.

    No Sharia in America
    By E.W. Jackson
    …………………………………..

Every liberal media outlet is celebrating the election of two Muslim women to Congress — Ilhan Omar of Minnesota and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. Since they both wear the traditional hijab, Nancy Pelosi will move to repeal a 180-year rule prohibiting head coverings on the floor of Congress. Some suggested that all the women in Congress wear the hijab in solidarity with their new Muslim colleagues. A CNN anchor suggested two years ago that all American women wear the hijab in solidarity with Muslim women against a Trump presidency.

I commented on my radio show that if the women wear the hijab on the floor of Congress, it will look like an Islamic republic. The mainstream media went wild, depicting me as a raving lunatic, while portraying the newly elected Muslims as courageous representatives of American diversity….

Muslims have the right to practice their religion in the private sphere. However, allowing Sharia Law into our legal and political system is subversive of our Constitutional Republic. An Arab parable warns against letting a camel get his nose into the tent. Allowing the hijab — required by Sharia — to be worn on the floor of Congress is the camel’s proverbial nose. Omar says, “And this is not the last ban I’m going to work to lift.” Really? What ban will she seek to lift next? Polygamy? Honor killings? Wife beating?

      • Minnesota Democrat Ilhan Omar — one of two Muslim women recently elected to the House of Representatives — will become the first to wear the hijab in Congress when the new session begins on Thursday.

Democrats are expected to end a nearly two-century-old rule that bans hats on the floor when they assume control of the House for the first time since 2010.

      • RR, Democrats sue to stop high school football players praying. They sue to remove Christian crosses in City Christmas displays. But Democrats demand to wear hijabs in Congress. Makes perfect sense.

        • The lunacy of the liberal left again on display:

Group says painting of Ground Zero Cross at Missouri courthouse is unconstitutional

A painting at the Camden County Courthouse in Missouri was put up to honor the lives of those who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. It shows the Ground Zero Cross emerging from the rubble as a New York firefighter and young girl look on. The Twin Towers and a plane are shown in silhouette.

But that painting in Camdenton, Miss. has come under fire from a Wisconsin-based anti-religion group that claims the painting is a violation of the separation of church and state. The Freedom From Religion Foundation, or FFRF, has filed a complaint with the county and wants it taken down.

“The ‘9/11 cross’ painting is unconstitutional because a county government cannot display religious symbols on government property under the First Amendment,” FFRF legal fellow, Colin McNamara, told Fox News.

But locals have defended the painting, insisting it’s a beautiful tribute and far from a religious symbol.

“We love this painting. It represents a lot of people,” Barb Stamper told KY3. “It was a tragedy. And the complaints against it? I think you ought to be shipped to another country that believes like you do.”
