  1. Just to put things into perspective for the non sheep out there, police have the 15th most dangerous job in America. A short list of those that are more dangerous in this country are roofers, fisherman, loggers, and garbage pickup men. This is a per capita number not total deaths also, so stop. Look, I respect what good cops do. In most cases they are good people, but this over the top cop worship is getting ridiculous. I saw all over facebook people posting self gratifying photos of sending pizza or cookies to police stations. Why not send that food to a homeless shelter? A nursing home? Talk about Stockholm syndrome…. when it’s time for the sheep to go into their pens, I’m thinking they’ll all do it in a very orderly fashion probably while wearing blue buttons.

    • Thank you, Ghost. Nobody thinks that what happened in Dallas is okay, but there seem to be a lot of folks that think the things that happened to Alton Sterling and Philando Castile are just fine.

The one thing that Dallas accomplished is that it should forever end the insipid argument about people needing their guns to protect themselves from the government. When the government wants to take somebody out and a lot of people with guns can’t get them, they will sent a robot with a bomb in to do the job. I’m not criticizing what was done to “neutralize” Michah Johnson. He clearly qualified for the use of deadly force. My point is that those who believe their guns make them safe from government are fools.

      • I’m not a supporter of Donald Trump but it’s ignorant, left-wing, socialist idealology such as yours that is driving people to support Trump. Guns are not the problem, people are the problem. LKB, you are the problem, not the solution.

        • The wrong people with guns that are designed to kill other human beings is the crux of the problem. You seem to have a severe case of butt-hurt that your beloved meme about guns protecting you from tyrannical government being destroyed by the Dallas PD. Get over it. Would you have wanted more policemen killed to preserve your fantasy?

    • Jesus, dude. Folks are showing a little support for guys and gals in uniform. Why does that piss you off? Does it make you equally furious when people show support for BLM? If I wanted to make a donation to a civil rights organization to show support, or wanted to send pizza and sodas to a group conducting a peaceful sit-in to protest police misconduct would you snap that I should ‘send the food to a homeless shelter or nursing home’ instead?

Have you ever thought that those good cops out there you claim to respect are ALSO paying the price for (actual or perceived) misconduct by their colleagues. By all accounts, the officers gunned down in Dallas were quality officers, murdered purely because of the badge they were wearing (and the color of their skin), not because they were busily shooting folks for no reason or spending their days gleefully violating civil rights. As such, I don’t see a huge reason to be pissed off at folks who want to give an attaboy to the good cops out there that keep plugging along and doing right by the public. Relax.

  2. EDITOR: In your poll, you mean “credible”. By “us” who do you mean? ‘The public in general? Whites? Blacks?

    • Duh ,the public consists of black people ,white people , red people and yellow people ,,,you cactuass

      • You mean “cactusass”. The poll question is about “us” NOT “the public”, you cactusass. I still wonder who the editor meant by “us.”

    • Credible = believable or plausible
Creditable = worthy of credit, but not praiseworthy

      • LKB’s reading comprehension skills aren’t too good. It’s time for her to get some new reading glasses.

        • I have new glasses, but sometimes I misread something when my caffeine level is low.

        • And she has found a new word to play with. She seems to be a race hater. Her own race.

  3. elkaybees head has been up her ass so long the only way she can communicate is by talking out her ass………………….jiminy crickets I must be racist also………………………

    • AL SHARPIE:
Your comment today reminds me of the “too plain talking” husband who’s wife asked, “Honey, do these pants make me look fat?” And he says, “Well honey, you are fat.”

There is no pretense here AL No need for effort on your part to say, “this might make me seem like a racist…but”…..
…..cause, let’s be clear Al, you are a racist. And you’re not alone.
A lot of people who follow Trump, intend to vote for Trump, like what Trump says, and who follow “white-focused media networks”……they are voting for Trump.

That simple. Racists…..many who vote……they’re all voting for Trump. (Trump knows this, by the way.)

  4. Cameras have exposed a problem this country has and cameras can almost totally solve it.

They need to be passing out body cams to law enforcement like tokens at the Tropicana. But those body cams aren’t to be on or off at anyone’s discretion, they are to be mandatorily on at all encounters where they can be the deciding factor in what actually happened. And in a fatality situation, they need to go straight to a judges chambers instead of a police chief’s.

The only thing separating society from the law of the jungle and total chaos is law enforcement. In Iraq their police are just as important as their military if they are to survive as a country.

    This article is about the best I’ve found that explains the truth about this situation;

    http://www.redstate.com/leon_h_wolf/2016/07/08/uncomfortable-reason-came-dallas-yesterday/

Reagan said trust but verify when dealing with Russia. Obama said about the same in dealing with Iran.

The same applies to this situation for the people who actually want to solve it.

In the pilot programs where body cams have been used, complaints against police have fallen anywhere from 40% to 80%.

    Picture that….

    • Thanks for the great article. I read Red State every day, and it is an excellent source of sensible conservatism.

Both officers’ body cams falling off during the shooting of Alton Sterling seems pretty convenient to me. Was Alton Sterling someone I would want for a next door neighbor? No. Did he deserve to die for his crimes without benefit of a trial? Absolutely not!

Just as bodycams can be a great protection for policemen, cameras on cellphones can be a great protection for citizens. It is really troublesome that the police took Diamond Reynolds’ phone and tried to destroy it. There should be legislation prohibiting that from happening, as well.

  5. NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION:
It’s hard for me to believe that the NRA isn’t going nuts because an undisciplined and unprofessional Police Officer killed a “conceal and carry permit holder”……why?
Cause he was a “conceal and carry permit holder.”
Can’t figure why the NRA is sitting on their haunches on this one.

      • N. Minnesota fishing is world-class. Lots of fish. Not a lot of fishermen, so lots of fish.
        1. Each day 2-7 Walleye. Jigs…
        2. Smallmouth, really….as many as you want. Simple spinner baits, or topwater.
        3. Lake Trout…..cast out a red-devil spoon….lazily bring it in, and bang. 2-5 per day. Wonderful eating fish.
        4. Crappie. Small spinner bait. Even worms and bobbers if you want. Regularly catch hand sized crappie…some even bigger. 10-15/day. Catch crappie when done fishing for the day.
        5. Northern Pike…..did not catch the 40″ ones….but 24-36 in in shallows near shore, 2-7 day.
6 Did catch similar sized muskie (to the Pike), wicked, strong fish…to catch. Figure 8 at the end, and it hits. I still can’t figure that out, but it works.
        6. Out of Grand Marais…float plane to inner lakes.

          • Last time I was up that way went across at International Falls East about 70 miles to Perch Resort.

I could catch 5LB. smallmouth off the dock while waiting on wife to put on makeup.

36″ Northern were common but their size restrictions were horrendous which is the reason you could catch so many biggins.

Going back in 3 years if I can get my passport renewed. Been doing a lot of dope here lately so it will be iffy.

            Later….

  6. Despite the lies from the racist whiners at the FOP, police are statistically safer under Obama than they were under Reagan, Clinton, and both Bushes.

    • Well, shit, if the statistics say they’re safer than they must be!

If you want to talk statistics, on any given interaction with a police officer you only have a 0.002% chance of ending up dead (2011 DOJ stats showing 1400 officer involved deaths / 63 million police-public interactions in 2011). Since that statistic obviously includes the people whose actions unquestionably justified lethal force, that means that even if you are TRYING to get killed by a cop you would have to average 500 interactions with LEO’s in order to have a 1% chance of getting killed by them.

See how stupid statistics can get? I mean, why the big fuss over police shootings if we’re just gaming statistics? You would need to increase the number of police involved deaths by 3,000% to even crack the top 10 leading causes of death in this country (2.5 million people die in the U.S. per year, the 10th leading cause of death is suicide, accounting for around 41,000 deaths per year).

So, statistically speaking, it doesn’t make much sense to get your panties in a wad over police involved deaths, does it? I’ll take your statistics to heart and stop worrying about the safety of my friends and family in law enforcement, provided you’ll realize that police related killings are basically a non-issue in the United States and revise your posting habits accordingly… 🙂

  7. Here is my two cents.
Police officers have to be right 100 percent of the time. NO if and or buts. But here is the deal. Police officers are selected from the human race. Have you look up the qualifications for a police officer? Have YOU applied to be a police officer? Have YOU recommended anyone to be a police officer? Do you have police officers that are you “friends”. Friends meaning to you go to their homes or do they come to your home for parties, picnics or movies etc…

If you look around you will notice that police officers (firemen, emts) are selected as youth sports coaches or treausers for church groups, leaders for boy/girl scout groups. Why? becuase their position is society gives them automatic credibilty. Do you noticed when a friend introduces them (example this is MIke oh yeah and he is a COP) does that happen to you? This is Mike he is a manager at Shoe Zoo. Nope it doesnt happen.

We have good police officers (Sheriff Deputies,Troopers etc..) in this area. Are some A-holes yes. But even if they were employees at SHoe Zoo they would probably be A-holes there. The two recent police involved shootings involved people with guns. The officers in Louisana were dispatched to a man with a gun call. The dispatcher gave a description. The man matched the description that is what the officers knew when they got there. The man knew that he was carrying a gun and he knew the he was a felon. He knew that if he was caught with the gun he was going to jail. The man in Minesota was pulled over for a taillight out but he as armed also and we still waiting for that story. Remember the Michael Brown incident that the information that was first given out was false. The state and federal investigation showed that the officer was right.

I am sure everyone would want our police officers to be phyiscally fit and know every wrestling move and pressure point tactic so that drawing their gun would be the last thing that they would do. It would be great if every officer slept 8 good hours of sleep. Then he would wake up eat three good healthy meals drink plently of water and maybe read the bible and then go to work 8 error less hours. BUT COME ON THEY ARE HUMAN. They have other responsiblities like you and me. Probalby kids to take to school, doctors appts, pta meetings. Then the usual maintenence around the home. Who knows how much work related stuff court on days off, training on days off. I sure wearing a vest and a gun belt (it looks cool) is wearing down on a person.
