  1. Legalize MJ. Prohibition has failed miserably, just as alcohol prohibition did.

    • Up with hope down with dope. Why is it wrong to be clean and sober?. It’s easy now days to prescribe drugs as a way to solve our problems. Marijuana is not the answer or prescription drugs.

    • Absolutely! It should be approved for medicinal purposes throughout the country. That seems to me to be well within the bounds of the law. Maybe recreational use is a State matter, but medicinal use isn’t. Indiana will wait until the bitter end on that, though.

    • Legalize all drugs. A certain %age of the population will use regardless of the law. Legalization won’t significantly increase usage and our prison populations will plummet.

      • People will steal to pay for their drug. They break into cars, shoplift, steal charity donations jars, and pawn family members jewelery. The jails will be just as full as they are now. Legal or illegal the addicts need their fix are willing to steal for it.

        • soul – what you describe is what happens now. Legalization will cause the contraband to be readily available and at greatly reduced price. Therefore, though it will never cease, crime will be greatly reduced.

    • Not even close to the same thing. The only comparison is that without caution MJ will be like alcohol in that it can’t be undone. Let’s first be honest in that what most really want is it legalized for recreational use. But what has happened is where it is legalized states have created legal storefronts for criminals. If we are going legalize it, then treat it as hard liquor with the same regulations and distribution. Sell it through liquor stores and similar entities not pot shops. That way you already have a reputable law abiding distribution entity and you’re not setting someone up in business who ignores the law .

  2. Thank you editor for the info about Christmas story to be at the Victory Theater. I volunteered to find places to put up some of the posters and literature. I guess I wasn’t smart about it. I didn’t know the profit was going to help the homeless. I told people I was helping my little girl. I had planned to take the packets of materials to churches to put out but carried them with me to the grocery when I went and the store was glad to put them out in a prominent location: right when you come in the door by their sales flyers. They even moved a picture to make room for the cards for people to pick up. I stopped at a couple of other groceries and received the same response. I went to the mall on Green River and finished my task. Even rationing the cards to a few per business the merchants cleaned me out pretty quick. Never made to any of the churches. Made some new friends at the Mall.

  3. According to C&P: “Assuming the repairs are affordable, the city plans to front the cost of repairs and renovations, then fold that into the building’s lease agreement.”

I think Soldier Dogs for Independence deserves a building to train in. They are helping so many veterans get their lives and families back. This group trains at the AMVETS Post 84 on Tuesday evenings and that room is very crowded with the veterans, dogs and SDI Staff. Thank you to ECHO for stepping up and helping this amazing group of volunteers help our veterans.

    • SDI is one of many groups in the area but I find it to have problems in their training methods and in the personnel of the organization. I understand that Pets for Vets is a better group in many ways according to a local trainer not affiliated with either group. I encourage everyone to thoroughly investigate any such group from top to bottom before committing to dealing with them.
