IS IT TRUE JANUARY 15, 2016

25

IS IT TRUE that Evansville IceMen negotiations with Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke has reached an impasse over high rent costs for the IceMen to play at the Ford Center?  …IceMen owner Ron Geary told us the other night that he lost over $600,000 dollars this year because of excessive costs at the Ford Center?  …because of that situation we predict that Evansville IceMen will relocate to Owensboro Sportscenter?

IS IT TRUE we are hearing that a couple past and present city officials are getting “lawyer up” because of a pending Federal investigation?  …we hear that the taxpayers are footing the legal bills?
IS IT TRUE we heard DMD had a few visitors during the last couple of days?  …the visitors were conducting an audit on Evansville Brownfield Corp?
IS IT TRUE that Brownfields Corp resource person is housed in the DMD Department and receives a stipend from them?  …this individual also is the Assistant Director of DMD?   …that DMD Director Kelley Couces is also involved in the activities of EBC? …we hear that DMD is going to try to convince City Council members that Evansville Brownfield Corp is a separate entity from them and should be allowed to  conduct their meetings in private?  …all we can say is “really”?
IS IT TRUE we were informed by several “Civic Center Moles” that Evansville Brownfield Corp shall be meeting on January 29 2016 somewhere in Evansville? …we are told DMD Director Kelley Coures is keeping the time and place of the 29th Brownfield meeting secret because he wants to keep local “Blight Fighter” George Lumley from attending and asking pointed questions about their activities? …we must remind Mr Coures that Brownfield Corp receives public funds (Federal, State and City) and must adhere to “Open Meeting Laws”? …we hope Mr. Lumley will request an official copy of the agenda and give it to us so we can make it public?
IS IT TRUE that George Lumley attended the last Brownfield Corp meeting held at the “DAPPER PIG”  at Haynies Corner and was treated poorly by the members of the Board?  …Mr. Lumley requested a copy of the official agenda and DMD Director Kelly Coures rejected his request?
IS IT TRUE that City Attorneys are concerned about legal issues in the drafting of a proposal that addresses blight in our community?
IS IT TRUE that City Council attorney ask their opinions if Evansville Brownfield should be considered  a governmental entity of the City or should they be considered a separate non-governmental entity?  …we have a simple answer for that question?  …the answer is that Evansville Brownfield should be considered a governmental entity of the City because they receive Federal, State and City money to conduct their business?
IS IT TRUE we wonder what is the statutory authority that allows Brownfield Corp. to  receive City funds so they can acquire ,receive, or transfer properties as a land bank?
IS IT TRUE past CCO Editor Joe Wallace posted in yesterdays IIT that its “Time for the CCO to resurrect my old creation SNEGAL?  …we are taking a serious look at doing that?
IS IT TRUE that our “Readers Poll” ask; Should Evansville  Brownfield Corp meetings be held in public?

    • I don’t care where they go, and I don’t care if Evansville gets another hockey team. I do care what the clowns in the Civic center are doing with the taxpayers money, though. I won’t mind paying to house some of them in jails, though.

    • Otzi the Ice Man is located in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Italy per the the National Geographic.

The Ice Men, and their iconic owner Ron “Give me your money” Geary, are entertaining a move to Owensboro if they can contrive a method with the mayor of that burg to seperate additional revenue from the cutizens of that locale.

  1. Trying to read and understand this is sickening. Something is bad wrong with your site. I am old and slow. I read a few words and the page jumps. No way I can keep track of my thoughts. I see my name mentioned – I hope it is positive – I am an antinegativitist. Non violent usually but I will say, whoever is responsible for making this page jump around allover the screen to the point it can’t be read, should be taken out and “SHOT”.

    • George:

Same problem. Did a google search to see what the cause might be and while I was searching and reading there I was not having the problem. In my case, it seems to be specific to the CCO website, and it has popped up here in the past under a different web host.

      • It has to do with the banner ads at the top of the page. One of them is wider than the others, so when it loads it bumps the page down, then the next one pulls the page up.

        • Thanks Tim

We are woking on the problem right .

          TIM

We are working on the problem as we speak.

Also our new site design is also under construction and later this evening you shall see a marked improvement.

Thanks for your input and reading the CCO.

          Editor

    • I’m not having any trouble with it, George. Maybe the problem is with your computer or whatever device you are using.

    • Have you tried using a different browser? I had problems with explorer but not chrome. only this site.

  2. Rumor has it, –“The Scared Canaries” might appear in Evansville, and start singing a Capella.

  3. Isn’t the term “lawyered up” ? And what is the nature of the inquiry?

Last……why, WHY…..does the CCO still delay (for hours, I mean….c’mon) the posting of reader’s posts/comments?
Is it to screen those comments? Because the CCO posted “no liability for reader comments” safeguards….
    So why?
Most days, it is clear the updating of reader comments is not happening because the staff or the Editor is busy doing other things. So why not discontinue this practice entirely?
    Why?
A lot of insight and information comes from the posters exchange of comments, but that exchange is frustratingly slow because of the CCO’s practice of not updating viewer comments for hours at a time. This dynamism is lost…and is, and could be, a major asset of the CCO…that is being totally discarded.
One thing I do know….page views are down because of this CCO practice. Interest from readers is down from this CCO practice. Total comments are down because of this CCO practice.
Take me questions as a compliment about this frustrating practice. Most readers just leave rather than give feedback. DB

      • Cool. Good job E.
Bandana told me over our weekly Tuesday b’fast that this drives him nuts.
So, I was just passing it on.

        • Not having it this morning with Firefox, did the last few days though. I suspect El Chapō and his Mexican jumping beans.

  4. My CPA buddies tell me that if the City was presenting it’s financial statements based on the Professional Standards (GAAP) the Brownfields & Evansville Redevelopment Authority (Not the commission) would be subject to audit. Civic Center moles have indicated that Russ Lloyd will not have the books on those Standards until 2019 (December 31, 2019) just in time for Winnie departure to Tucson. Of course just a coincidence.

  5. I am fairly new to this site, but I agree with you about the delays. If they were not used, people could carry on more of a conversation about the content. The people who own this site would do a lot better if they stopped monitoring comments. They can always take them down if they are threatening or personal.

  6. Joe Wallace’s iconic “Snegal” may be too kind a word for the Evansville Brownfield Corp and DMD actions. Kudos and a big community thank you to both George Lumley and the CCO for monitoring the expenditure of our hard earned tax dollars. When the Evansville Redevelopment Commission had an off-site meeting years ago they used the Vecten HQ conference room.

  7. Just read the letter to the editor in today’s CP. Maybe Mr. Fred Cook has something when he says that this City Council is heading towards dictatorship. Apparently, Connie has been relegated back to Uncle Tom’s Cabin and old Doc Adams may have concerns about his son’s future on the EPD and of course he is just too old to start delivery pizza once more.

  8. SNEGAL’s image is in the image storage section of the CCO platform. I found SNEGAL yesterday with a general search of the name. It will be up to the new editor to decide when to pull the SNEGAL card on the antics that continue to happen.
