Year-End Appeal Letter From Willard Library
Willard Library loves our patrons. Fortunately, even during a pandemic, we found ways to safely serve our patrons and to be the first library in the Evansville area to reopen; first for curbside service, and then directly to the public.
As the oldest public library in the State of Indiana and one of the oldest libraries in the Midwest, Willard is unique among cultural icons in the City of Evansville—everything from its historic architecture and rare and expansive local history archives, to its engaging programs for children and adults. The Library Board of Trustees and the Library Staff felt strongly that it was important for people to have the solace of these touchpoints during these difficult times.
Although like most other people, businesses, and organizations, 2020 was far from the expected, there is good reason to believe that 2021 will be better.
During the past year, Willard engaged a market research firm to conduct a market survey to help us determine what the successful library of the future should look like. They spoke with staff, board members, patrons, local citizens, and library industry experts. What do our patrons want to see? What services do they want? Thanks to their responses, a veritable roadmap has been created to guide programming, eBook collections, outreach, a new, already created garden area and outdoor reading plaza, an exciting partnership with local schools, and even better ways in which Willard can interact with you.
You can be a part of this future success with your gift to Willard. By making your contribution today, you can become part of Willard Library’s rich history. Your gift to the Willard Library Foundation will help launch this future outlined above by visiting our secure website at: https://willard.lib.in.us/donate/donate-online
