EVANSVILLE, Ind.- University of Southern Indiana Women’s Tennis faltered in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon against Lindenwood University, 6-1.
The Eagles loss concludes the regular season, finishing 1-5 in the Ohio Valley Conference. The full conference bracket will be released on Sunday night after all competitions are concluded. USI is guaranteed a quarterfinal game, which will be decided based on ITA rankings.
Doubles
The doubles one and two slot struggled, but seniors Madison Windham and Abby Myers nearly clawed out the win in the three slot, falling (7-5). The duo finished their senior season with a 2-3 regular season record together.
Singles
USI failed to execute down the stretch, mustering just one singles victory against a high powered Lindenwood squad. Sophomore Antonia Ferrarini nearly forced a third set in an intense loss (5-6, 6-7 (6-7). Freshman Rylie Wilkison also battled hard in a three-set loss (6-3, 1-6, 2-6).
Sophomore Sofia Davidoff dominated her singles two match for the lone Eagles victory (7-5, 6-1). The sophomore led the squad with eight singles wins this season.
USI celebrated three dedicated seniors in Elle Ossenberg, Myers, and Windham. All three athletes played vital roles in the program’s progress into NCAA Division I competition. The trio contributed towards the program’s first NCAA Division I conference tournament win last season. The three seniors combined to post 38 singles victories, and 46 doubles win.
