CMS, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, named The Women’s Hospital in its latest group of hospitals who earned a five-star rating on the Hospital Compare website, www.medicare.gov/hospitalcompare.

The Women’s Hospital earned this recognition by receiving exceptional marks in nurse communication, cleanliness, pain management, discharge information, care transition, and the number of patients who would recommend the hospital to others.

Chris Ryan, CEO, The Women’s Hospital, said, “A 5-Star rating from CMS is an outward symbol of what our patients already know –  our dedicated and compassionate staff is devoted to providing world-class care, from our family to yours, one exceptional experience at a time.”

The hospital rating system offers a star rating based on the 11 publicly reported measures in the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) survey, which assesses patient experiences. The updated ratings are based on HCAHPS survey results for the reporting period from October 2013 to September 2014. In total, Medicare awarded five-star ratings to 336 (about 9.5%) of the 3,548 eligible hospitals.
