  • Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus’ purpose is to provide musical rehearsals and performances, as well as music education opportunities for adult and school-aged musicians in the southern Indiana area communities, playing great classical music and inspirational songs.
  • The Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus was founded in 2006, and conducted and instructed by Dennis A. Noon and Nancy V. Noon for the first eleven years of the group’s existence. Both are university-trained and experienced musicians. The Organization is administered by a board of officers elected from the membership and has been incorporated as a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization. The current orchestra conductor is Thomas Hemenway, and the chorus conductor is Christopher N. Price.
  • Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus has 3 active seasons per year: Spring, Summer and Fall; with 10 to 14 weekly rehearsals each season concluding with 2 or more concerts.
  • The Musical Organization rehearses and performs in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, but also performs in New Harmony and Evansville, Indiana. Rehearsals are held in Hedges Central Elementary School’s (a surplus facility) music suite which is leased from the Metropolitan School District of Mt. Vernon, IN.
  • Concerts are held in area churches and concert halls as well as the new Mt. Vernon Riverfront Amphitheater overlooking the Ohio River.
  • Additionally, the Orchestra and Chorus has performed concerts at The Victory Theatre, Main St., Evansville, IN
  • Funding for Wolfgang Orchestra and Chorus for the past 19 years has been and will continue to be, through ‘seasonal dues’ paid by the members at the beginning of each concert season. Donations from the audiences are also accepted at each of the concert performances. Additionally, Wolfgang has received grants from the George Mesker Music Trust, Eli Lilly and General Electric among others.
