Welp joins Vincennes University Foundation and VU Jasper Foundation

JASPER, Ind. August 26, 2024 – The Vincennes University Foundation and the VU Jasper Foundation are excited to welcome the new Assistant Director of Special Projects and VUJ Advancement, Austin Welp.

Welp is passionate about philanthropy and ensuring students’ success in the communities the University serves.

VU Jasper Foundation President Dan Fritch said, “I am thrilled to welcome Austin to our team. His commitment and dedication to student success align perfectly with our mission. His new role will enhance our efforts to build strong relationships with alumni, donors and the community, ensuring the continued growth and success of the Jasper Campus.”

As assistant director, Welp will work to advance the University’s mission and ensure VU Jasper’s continued success in delivering high-quality education to Dubois County and surrounding communities.

VU Foundation Executive Director and Senior Director of VU Institutional Advancement Kristi Deetz said, “This new position came about because we recognized the benefit of being more intentional in our efforts to coordinate the outreach, fundraising and stewardship for both the VUJ and VU foundations. I am thankful to the boards of both foundations and to the VUJ Foundation President Dan Fritch for creating the vision of two foundations working for one purpose – to make a high-quality Vincennes University education accessible to future generations of students in the communities we serve in Southwest Indiana and beyond.”

Welp will serve predominantly at the Jasper Campus, helping to build relationships with individuals and corporations in support of students and institutional priorities.

VU Foundation Director of Development Leslie Kidwell said, “Having a coordinated effort in communicating with alumni and shared donors between the two foundations has become ever important. We are looking forward to Austin deepening relationships to foster additional support to the Jasper Campus and growing engagement of all who value and love Vincennes University.”

Welp obtained a bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern Indiana in 2021. Before joining VU, he worked for the YMCA. He resides in Dubois County and is a member of four community-based organizations, holding the position of president for two.
