Aces take 3-1 victory
EVANSVILLE, Ind. – Four Purple Aces finished with double digit kill to lead the University of Evansville volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Indiana State on Saturday inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
Leading the way for UE was Hinsley Everett with 13 kills. Holland Morris and Ryan Scheu finished with 12 apiece while Chloe Cline had 10. Ainoah Cruz picked up 21 digs while Kora Ruff had 40 assists and 12 digs. Kira Holland completed the match with 16 kills for the Sycamores.
Game 1 – UE 25, Indiana State 17
Hinsley Everett picked up two early kills to give UE a 3-1 edge. Evansville extended the lead to 7-2 before another kill by Everett made it a 14-7 game. The Sycamores made a run as they cut the deficit to just three at 18-15. Following a time out, the Aces came back with three in a row including a block by Sabrina Ripple and Ryan Scheu to go back up by six. UE held strong from there to take the set by a 25-17 final.
Game 2 – UE 25, Indiana State 16
After the Aces took a 2-0 lead, Indiana State tied things up at 3-3 before taking a 10-9 lead. UE fought back with a 4-0 run to take the lead for good. Ripple recorded a block to make it a 13-10 game while Schue registered two more kills to extend the lead to 18-12. After going up by as many as nine points at 22-13, Evansville finished off with the 25-16 victory.
Game 3 – Indiana State 25, UE 11
Indiana State jumped out to a 4-1 lead and never looked back. They extended the lead to 12 points at 16-4 and cruised to a 25-11 win to extend the match to the fourth set.
Game 4 – UE 25, Indiana State 20
Ripple picked up a kill to put the Aces in front at 3-2 while Indiana State countered with a 5-0 stretch to go up 7-5. Scheu added to kills to her tally and Everett picked up the tying point to make it an 8-8 score. Chloe Cline’s solo block put Evansville back in front at 11-10 and she combined on a block with Everett to push the score to 18-14. As the set came to a close it was Holland Morris notching two kills to seal the victory.
