EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana Women’s Diving team competed on Saturday after a two-month long hiatus. The Screaming Eagles hosted the cross-town rival Evansville Purple Aces in a diving only meet on Saturday.

The rust didn’t prove to be a factor for the Eagles on Saturday, breaking both school diving records on Saturday. There were no team scores recorded from the contest, but each team battled for records and their own school pride. The cross-town matchup featured six of the eight athletes being from the Tri-State Area.

Three-Meter
Freshman Maranda Uttke (Grafton, Wisconsin) continued to show improvement upon every meet in the first half of the season. Uttke even broke two school records along the way. Those records were smashed on Saturday with a three-meter score of 220.05. This marks a 20-point jump in score from her previous school record. However, the incredible effort was not enough to take down Evansville’s Madison Rollett (Evansville, Indiana) who finished with a score of 251.18.

One-Meter
Uttke decided that one record wasn’t enough for the day. The freshman displayed consistency and poise with a score of 225.90 in the one-meter event. This development leaves an endless amount of possibilities for the freshman who has only competed in six collegiate meets.

UP NEXT FOR USI:
The swim team will compete next Friday, traveling to conference rival Eastern Illinois University. The meet will kick off at 6 p.m.
