West Lafayette, Ind. – The University of Southern Indiana Women’s Swimming and Diving continued their Indiana road trip in West Lafayette on Saturday competing in the Dan Ross Indiana Intercollegiate Meet at Purdue University. Ten other Indiana schools competed in the event including Anderson University, Ball State University, Bethel University, Franklin College, Indiana Wesleyan, IUPUI, Purdue University, USI, Rose-Hulman, and Butler University. The Screaming Eagles finished sixth among the ten schools.
The Eagles came out a little slow, but were kick started by Freshman Caiya Cooper (LaPorte, Indiana) with a solid 200 yard freestyle time (1:58.31). Sophomore Sarah-Catherine Dawson (Prospect, Kentucky) nearly broke her own school record that she set on Friday night posting an impressive 100 yard butterfly time (58.90).
Freshman Hayden Shurtz (Ft. Wayne, Indiana) went on a tear Saturday dazzling in the 100 yard individual medley breaking a school record (1:01.92). Shurtz almost shattered her own record from Friday’s meet in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:05.66).
Freshman Maranda Uttke (Grafton, Wisconsin) tallied 195.00 points in the three-meter dive event.
