USI Theatre To Stage New Adaptation Of “A Christmas Carol”

University of Southern Indiana Theatre continues its 2021-2022 live season with a Christmas classic: A Christmas Carol. This adaptation of Charles Dicken’s beloved story was written and will be directed by USI’s own Elliot Wasserman, Professor of Theatre.  The production runs from November 18-21 in the USI Performance Center located in University Center East on USI’s campus.

A quartet of ghosts takes the stage to deliver old Ebenezer Scrooge a transformative lesson about charity, love, and forgiveness on the eve of the holiday that encourages all of us to take stock of ourselves and know that true blessings in this life are meant to be shared.  First and foremost, this play is for children –and for the child who survives in all of us every day, still alert for miracles, and always wanting to be good.

Wasserman will be joined by a design team including USI faculty member Paul Weimer as a scenic designer; USI staff members Joshua Stallings as sound and lighting designer and Andy Hammond as a technical designer; and USI students Annabelle Gladding as a costume designer and Livi Posey as production stage manager.

The cast of A Christmas Carol includes USI students Nolan Kirby, Chloe Kummer, Easton Crisp, Tristen Kendle, Blake Whitehouse, Olivia Wagner, Dakota Smith, Alex Seifert, Amelia Schmitz, Avery Yates, Abby Brown, Noah Harrison, Madalyn Cottrell, and Bladen Allbright.  Evansville community members joining the USI students on stage are Starling Blaylock, Brady Gough, and Claire Flaharty.

Tickets are $2 for USI students, $10 for USI employees and alumni, $4 for non-USI students (student ID required), $10 for seniors (60+), and $12 for adults. Tickets are FREE to USI students with ID one hour before the show begins based on availability.  Shows start at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 2 p.m. for the Sunday matinee.
