USI Men’s Soccer battered by Green Bay, 7-0

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Men’s Soccer was battered by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, 7-0, Friday afternoon in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The Screaming Eagles start the year 0-3-0, while Green Bay goes to 2-1-0.

USI stood strong defensively through the first 17minutes before Green Bay’s offense broke through the Eagles’ back line with a barrage of goals in the final 18 minutes of the first half. The Eagles allowed four first half goals and three in the second half before the Phoenix closed out the 7-0 match.

The Phoenix out shot the Eagles, 22-5, and had a slim 4-3 advantage on corner kicks.

The Eagles continue the two-game road swing with a visit to the ninth-ranked University of Akron Monday in Akron, Ohio. Match time is set for 6 p.m. (CDT) and will be streamed live on ESPN+.

Akron, who visits the University of Michigan this evening, has begun the season with a pair of victories and rose from 22nd in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll to the top 10 nationally. The number-nine Zips are the highest ranked opponent for the Eagles since returning to Division I.
