The University of Southern Indiana volleyball team scored its fourth-straight victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference play with a four-set victory over Maryville University on Senior Day, by scores of, 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 25-13.

The Screaming Eagles (15-13, 7-6 GLVC) are now in a three-way tie in the seventh spot in the GLVC standings after McKendree University defeated the Missouri University of Science and Technology in four sets Saturday, with USI holding the tiebreaker over the Miners and fellow tied opponent University of Illinois Springfield.

Freshman outside hitter Leah Anderson recorded her third-straight double-double, and fourth in her last six outings, on her way to tying a season-high with 19 kills while tallying 17 digs. The Bloomington, Illinois-native posted six kills in the first, third and fourth sets; the three sets USI claimed over Maryville. Anderson also crossed the 300-kill threshold for the season with her final kill in the first frame.

Junior setter Casey Cepicky hit the 40-mark in assists for the fifth time in 2019, passing Quin Shoultz ’16 for sixth all-time in career assists on Anderson’s first kill of the contest. The St. Louis-native has reached 35-plus assists in each match of USI’s four-match winning streak.

Seniors middle blocker Amanda Jung and libero/outside hitter Mikaila Humphrey produced in their final home match for the Eagles. Jung posted six kills on a .400 hitting clip and six blocks to lead USI in that department. Humphrey led the Eagles with 18 digs, tying her season-best mark set in the Warrior Invitational in September.

Freshman libero Audrey Crowder aided the Anderson and Humphrey’s effort with another 17 digs in the contest. The Avon, Indiana-native has posted double-digits in that category in seven of her last eight matches, including all four in USI’s current stretch.

The Eagles are on their first four-match GLVC winning-streak since November of 2013, where USI claimed five in-a-row to open that month. That streak also featured the last time USI scored back-to-back weekend sweeps in league play.
