EVANSVILLE, Ind. – University of Southern Indiana Women’s Soccer completed a two-match homestand sweep with a 1-0 victory over Walsh University Sunday afternoon at Strassweg Field. The Screaming Eagles start the season 2-0-0, while Walsh goes to 0-2-0 to begin 2021.

The Eagles and the Cavaliers battled to a scoreless draw through the first 45 minutes of the match. USI had a distinct advantage with six shots overall, two on-goal, while Walsh did not have a chance on-goal during the first half.

After missing a few good chances to score to start the second half, USI got on the board with the game-winning goal at 61:44 when sophomore forward Morgan Beyer converted a corner kick off the foot of sophomore midfielder Madison Crawford. The goal was Beyer’s first of the season.

USI finished the game with a dominating 17-1 advantage in total shots, 9-1 on-goal.

Between the posts, sophomore goalkeeper Maya Etienne made one save to record her first win and shutout of the season. The shutout was the 22nd of Etienne’s career and moves her into sole possession of second all-time at USI.
